Need advice on games

Temo

First time out of the vault
I have a Duron (800 mhz) and a nvidia riva tnt 64 mb video card. Today i realized that there are no good games that my computer can run out there... no decent RPG's at the very least..
It would be very appreciated if i could see some game suggestions that would not require a graphic beast

Fallout 1 and 2 spring to mind.... Tactics if you're hard-up....

Uhh.... other than that.... I've been playing Rise Of Nations alot lately, on my 866mhz with an ATI rage Pro 64 mb video card.

Good games? - Well what genre do you like best, or rather do you want to play?

I can recommend Civilization II (that should be runable for sure).
Baldurs Gate series is also quite good.

Sounds like my situation.
Civilization 3 is good and runs decently. Pro Evolution Soccer 3 does as well, or at least it does with the patch.

Morrowind might run decently on low settings, though the game is a bit boring. Neverwinter Nights should run as well, but I think it's one of the worst games ever made. It can be fun on-line, though.

I dont think Morrowind will be playable, but yer more than welcome to try. Dungeon Siege might work or HL if yer looking for a shooter

Or if you're into on-line shooters, try Unreal Tournament or Counter-Strike. Oh, and Morrowind worked for my PC, so it should work for his, though poorly.

i dont think cs would be playable for him Sander
older pre-steam versions maybe, 1.6 i dont think sooo

you might wanna try GroundControl 1. it's an old RTS that should run on your pc. tbh i think it was one of the best of its generation

Meh, steam was the reason why I stopped playing (after about three hours). That thing has got to be the worst piece of software ever created.
However, the game itself should run fine. Steam just fucks everything up.

Steam is much better than before, though, with the new versions. Even though I like the concept of Steam, I still hate it to the death.

Get Counter Strike: Condition Zero. It has a load of offline stuff, and you can play and 'online game' offline (ie the computer plays as enemies.)
Dunno about the system requirements tho.

With that system you will probably have to go to ebay to hunt for games. I would go with Elli's recs- Fallout 1 and 2.

If you like strategy- Age of Kings, Panzer General 2 are two of my favorites. I am running an old game too.

I am moving this over to gaming section but will leave the shadow here.

BLASPHEMY

cs:cz sucks...

anyhow, he wont be able to run it every well anyway... his vidcard sucks

Fallout 2 was played so many times i can go through it completing all quests in 1 day. I also tinkered with unreal tournament for a year, and dont even plan on going near to cs. Are strategies like "age of empires", cesar, etc worthwhile?

The Close Combat series should run just fine on that if you like more realism based strategy war games

upgrading is out of the question. MY goal right now is to get a job, not pay $$ for fancy hardware. Plus, living below the poverty line means you dont go on shopping sprees.
