New boarding procedures at airports

First time out of the vault
So now we cant bring nail clippers or a bottle of liquid on airplanes in case terrorits use these as weapons or explosives. Ok.

Someone said 'what will the terrosist think of next?':

They will have a team of two per plane, one will have a large C4 fist dild0 up is #$% and the other with have a medium sized vibrator also up his #$% to be used as a detonator. Either that or binary explosives up each one's #$% that only need to be combined and shaken without an electrical detonator(potentialy detected by metal detectors).

Once this plot is discovered, hopefully before it gets implemeted, everyone will have to conform to a full body cavity search before boarding. The security agents will call the next passenger while stretching a new latex glove on, and they'll give you a small bag of peanuts in return. :? In San Fransico the line ups may be a bit longer though.

I think ICEWENDIGO that you secretly want a custom guard by the name of Mickey "Big mits" to come along and do a check of your bum.

I sounded like both an actual concern and a funny post initially, but I now wonder if all I'll get is a flame sandwich. :?

Well, I am taking a flight to Beijing tomorrow, and I am not looking forward to the "NEW" and "IMPROVED" security measures. They are checking every single carry-on bags. That will probably mean something like a hour or 2 of delay.

At least it won't be as bad as a British friend of mine. She had to repack everything because she isn't allowed Anything on the plane at ALL. Passport, wallet, medicine and small personal items are the only things she can take on board. It's down right stupidity.

Trains and cruise ships look mighty tempting about now. This slippery slope argument concerning airports are getting ludicrous.

Hahaha, gotta fly back home tomorrow morning myself. The folks sent me up shit creek without a paddle i.e. more clothes than I originally had when I was on vacation, so now that I'm going back for good I had to borrow suitcases and a carry-on from my grandparents. I stuck all my DVDs and PS2 games in there, so I hope the security guy doesn't like The Dark Crystal.

What does it matter if they check all the bags and personal items?

It's either that, or a much better chance of being blown up over the Atlantic.

I think I'm blacklisted at O'Hare airport (Chicago). I was there three times this summer (To and returning from Italy, and then to Japan) and every time I was chosen for extra security checks. My bags were also checked thoroughly by Customs. For some reason, I was asked all sorts of questions when I returned from italy:

"Who did you meet in Italy? Where are your parents? Where do you go to school? What do you study in school?"

I'm going home on Sept. 16th so hopefully things will calm down by then. I don't really care about the new carry-on details. I usually don't like to have a lot of things with me on the plane. Just important documents and a book or something.

teehee! i always loved security checks (no, not for the cavity searches, you pervs)! especially the ones in Morocco.

i always get to pass immediately (tan, slim, goatee, glasses, could pass as a second generation moroccan i guess) & my brother (blondie) and friends (whiteys) always get held up, getting their bags and identity checked. muhahahaha!

Racism is teh funny! muhahahaha!

well, he does look like a pothead... (which to be perfectly honnest we used to be)

besides, security checks suck ass. i've boarded an airplane like 4 times with a swisspocketknife just because i forgot i had it in my backpack.

must be because i look so honnest? bwahahaha, how wrong they are. ^^

Security checks bite the big one.I would much rather hear about several hundred people meeting their creator mid-air then hearing about the indignities they had to suffer through pre-flight.

On a more serious note people are spoiled thinking that air travel is about their convienence only and that safety and security are only second thoughts. If someone is unable to indulge in their bottle of Evian, but my loved ones arrive safe and sound, then i don't care how put out the former feels.

Better a slight delay and people feeling put off by security measures than attending a funeral.

Actually it has been considered that the economic cost from delaying the flights woud, if given to charity, save more people than the terrorist attack would be removed.

Where, and how?
This is rather ludicrous, in that you're first setting a price on a human life and secondly are probably ignoring many long-term effects such a terrorist effect may have.

That's a high school website telling kids to go look at other websites, which consist of lesson plans and 404s.
It doesn't state anything at all, let alone anything about the security measures at an airport being in any way more expensive than letting a terrorist attack happen.

Did you even look at that site before posting it?

Here is a more specific one if you cannot be bothered to follow a few links:
Ehm, what? There wasn't even a link to that piece you just gave me on the first page you linked me to.
Besides that, when I ask for some kind of proof, I don't want to go around chasing links hoping I might stumble on the page you want me to find. That's about as useful as saying 'google it'.

And yet again you manage to conjure up a link that has no relevance whatsoever.
We were talking about safety measures on the airport and delaying flights. The words 'airport', 'plane', 'flight', 'measure', 'delay' or any variation of those words doesn't even appear on that page.
Do you even read what you post?

Not to mention the fact that the page was created on October 9, 2001. Even if it had "relevant" information, it would be severely outdated info.

The page demonstrated how the subjective cost of terrorism is only proportional to the delay of flights, travel and the economy as you asked for...
