Turn based in the Max Payne engine? Is that possible?

I was wondering about that one too. I have absolutely no idea how that would be done

A pause function would be easier to implement. The creator of this mod might just be getting pause in RT mixed up with TB, like so many people do.

Heh, never got around to purchasing Max Payne 2. I usually only purchase games when they end up in the bargain bin.

Anyone feel like testing that mod?

Max Payne 2 is quite possibly one of the worst games i've played this year. Short, meh, and not as fun as the original. Not forgetting how they killed the story and characters of the original. The graphics, physics, and the possibility to play with Mona in interesting, but it doesn't make up for it.

I dunno about that. I thought MP2 was really good. Good graphics, good story, good gameplay, good all around game. Sure, it was a little short, but it was still really cool. It wasn't the same as the original, in the sense that Max was back on the force, and it didn't have the conspiracy feel of the original, but it was still a really good game.

That was not what i was refering to. Those aspects you mentioned are, quite frankly, negligible. The biggest downfall of the game storywise was making certain characters lose their appeal. Vlad is anything but a convicing villain. He was much more charming as the russian gangster who thrived on american culture to create his own personality then he is as a well-dressed character shoved into the story as a villain. He just doesn't click as one. I'm not the most perceptive pickle in the jar, yet i could realize he was going to be the villain quite early into the game. Mona? Probably the only stylish figure in the entire game, yet, loses a part of her personality as she becomes more and more lax in her professionalism just to protect Max - why on earth would she let herself get caught so off-guard in Woden's mansion? Other than a plot device, that is? A very unfitting ending for her. Max keeps being the dull-witted cop that can't add two and two when it comes to gathering evidence, yet, manages to think up poetry to describe what goes around him. Winterson? Pft. Can't get any more black and white than that.

The whole "hero wears black, villain wears white" isn't exactly new, too.

I see what you mean RP

But back to the topic of this Turn Based thing...
I just played the TB mod for MP2 for a while, and I can't say that I like it. No matter where you are or what has happened, the AI cycles through EVERY single bot. Each turn is 10 seconds long, and with say like, 15 bots, that's 150 seconds of waiting each turn. It gets very tedious. 10 seconds of your action, and then 150 seconds of waiting. And you can only fire a certain number of shots per turn, completely making burst weapons obsolete. Not to mention that, in the provided levels, there's like no painkillers or ammo other than ammo that comes from killed bots. Max Payne 2 was not meant to be a TB game, and this mod just backs that up. The engine just doesn't play well when converted to TB.
