The barren areas west of the strip where all the Fiends are made me feel like I was walking through one of the F1/2 encounter city maps. I thought that was pretty immersive actually. Nothing to do cept take in the scenery, but it worked, at least for me.
Joking aside, dialogue can be great, but not always when that ends up being the only thing you do or it's only shallow but forced conversation along one of many fedex waypoints. There is plenty of that available in NV, but after the first playthrough you know what you can skip or what quests not to do back-to-back.
