Fallout 2 mod Newbie requesting help installing RPU + Ecco + FO2tweaks

Greetings fellow gamers.

I know that there are multiple threads like this already. I've tried several recommendations from those threads, and keep bumping into errors and crashes.
So please, if you care to help a newbie who hasn't tried any mods but RP yet:

1) What exactly causes the ddraw overwritten error, and is there a general way to prevent it?
2) In which order should I install RPU + Ecco + FO2tweaks, and are there any issues with this combo?
3) Are there any settings I need to stay away from, or any mandatory manual changes to ini files?

Just install RPU and play! Ecco and FO2tweaks might have conflicts with RPU and stuff up the whole thing!

I ended up using WR by Magnus instead of Ecco. That caused issues with RPU too though, as RPU doesn't store dat files in the same way RP did. So I ended up using RP instead of RPU. Anyone know how to use WR with RPU? The instructions tell me to unzip all the dat files manually to folders that don't exist with an RPU setup.
