Nipton Post-Ending Speculation

The Man From Nowhere

It Wandered In From the Wastes
What do you think eventually became of the town known for the mass slaughter of it's citizens by The Legion, and how do you see each potential faction (House, NCR, Legion, Independent) go about it?

Each building is actually in pretty decent condition, and for travelers and passerbys it is one of the main paths on the way to The Strip. Would people eventually resettle or would it remain a ghost town, perhaps for spook tales down the line throughout the Mojave?

Wouldn't want to be the one to move all the dead bodies, though.

I guess that depends on what their economy centered around. The only thing I recall them doing is entertaining guests. So, recreation and prostitution. Maybe they're like a seedy version of Goodsprings, and they did farming/hunting/ranching as well. If so then people would come back, but I doubt the ol' cottage industry would return. Nobody wants to risk getting STIs where people got massacred. It kills the mood. Okay okay, in all seriousness, I would imagine that it'd become a gang hideout initially. Annihilation or assimilation seems the most likely outcome for faction endings. Doubt they'd do anything all taht interesting with it.

In the first couple of years, it'll probably become a ghost town or a gang hideout. Crucified corpses strewn all over the place is the kind of creepy imagery that will deter settlers from re-settling in the town and if it becomes a gang hideout, people will definitely give Nipton a wide berth.

After a long-enough time-skip, maybe if the buildings are still in good condition and seeing as Nipton lies on the path to Novac and Hoover Dam, I imagine that the NCR would restore the town if only to secure the route (unless they intend to pass through the northern roads towards New Vegas).

In an NCR victory or House victory, Nipton would be revived, really. It's not in a bad place, it's a transport hub, and there's farmland around it. It'll probably never be bigger than Primm, Novac, or Goodsprings again, but it'll come back as just a civilized place to hang at while going to NV. More so if the NCR hold the Mojave, they'll especially want it just to have some control towards the river, especially as Searchlight is no-go.

House might use it to help with his projects, mostly mining and stripping everything around it from rock to metal to crops.

If the Legion takes over the Mojave, it'll be a ghost town. It serves no real purpose other than the site of a Frumentarii operation in the war; and it's cut off from Legion areas by the irradiated Searchlight, another genius Frumentarii operation.

In a more haphazard Courier-Mojave victory it'll probably become the main den of the Jackals; as it's right in the center of their territory. As to what the Jackals will do then is a mystery, probably just prey on Novac, Primm, Goodsprings and the like.

In a organized Courier-Mojave victory it'll probably come back as a town one day, way down the road.

I imagine that the buildings would be demolished and the remains put into mass graves by the NCR military as part of the tidying-up work after defeating the Legion. If Ceasar wins, then the town would be left as it is, as a warning to everyone under their control. Either way it would remain abandoned, with a reputation as a haunted, evil place. Historically, villages that have been razed to the ground don't get resettled, humans are too superstitious to live in a graveyard.

I like to think for irony's sake that the people of the Mojave take a few hints from the Romans and pull a Camulodunum.

"Oh shit, this town just got slaughtered by a tribal army. Better rebuild in the exact same place but actually bother putting up defences this time. Sure wish we'd have thought of that the first time round"

(BTW, For those who don't get the reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camulodunum)

If the NCR managed to defend Hoover Dam, the deathclaw population on I-15 near Sloan would not survive long after hundreds of troops instantly became available. That's of course if the Courier did not already clear the place out themselves. With traffic moving safely straight from Shady Sands to New Vegas, and Camp Searchlight glowing to the east, Nipton would probably only be passed by government employees seeking a shortcut from the Mojave Outpost to Helios One and the Dam. Because the town's infrastructure was left intact, there would be no reason for a small population not to exist. They would likely provide services to the aforementioned NCR soldiers and scientists.

If the Legion were to successfully cross the Colorado River, they'd basically just want to set up a camp at the Mojave Outpost to keep the NCR out of New Vegas. To them, the city is just a pain in the ass north of I-40 between Flagstaff and Shady Sands. Nipton might actually get passed quite often if the Legion decides to route its troops through Boulder City, but it would likely get stripped of its materials over time as they were brought over to fortify the camp.

If House activated his robotic army, Nipton would not get much attention. It's not really a strategic location for him since he is based in New Vegas, and the securitrons only need to defend Hoover Dam and the Mojave Outpost. Nipton might be occupied by the local Jackal gang for a while if the Courier didn't already kick their asses, but the second House decides to move troops between Hoover and the Outpost, the upgraded securitrons are going to make short work of them.

If the Courier chose to side with Yes Man and create an independent New Vegas, the Jackals would likely control Nipton for a lot longer , but that's only in the unlikely event any of them survived to the game's conclusion.
