I think Discord might be more convenient. It can record, seems pretty stable and fast, and you can do very convenient invites and closed rooms and so on. And nobody needs to install a program, you just send an invite and the person can start the app in their browser.
We should do a test run, though, see how it works out and compare it to TS3.

Not having to install anything is a plus. I'll look into what this thing can do.

EDIT: I'm not seeing any options to record audio directly through Discord, though from what I've found, Audacity has been put forward as something that can handle the recording. That program I can give system priority to so it doesn't hitch while recording.

Or one can just set OBS to "Audio Only". I'll do that if I can go.

Alright, so the 6th of May won the poll.
We should do a test session before to see wether we'll use Discord or TS.

Let's go with Discord first. I still have a Teamspeak subscription until that date, and if Discord can't handle what we need, I'll renew it. I'll need to get some hardware to improve the wireless signal in my place either way; for some reason, I can't get a good signal on my laptop's wireless bridge lately, and that's what connects my desktop to the net.

Why don't you get an ethernet connection, even if temporary?

I'm on the server all the fucking time normally, all up for it.

Anybody can join? I'd like to participate in this, but I can't promise anything. 6th of May is, looking from this point in time, good for me, but that can change.
Anyway, I'm on Discord, so I could join the test session or something.

Hmm. Haven't tried that in a while. The only thing that worries me about it is if one of my cats starts playing with the cable, since I'm over 50 feet from the router, but some smart placement should fix that.

EDIT: I'm on vacation from work all this week, so anytime after 12:00 CST would work for setting up a test session and seeing how I could get Audacity to record Discord.

You can always use one of these if you don't want a mess of wires. Use it myself and works quite well.

I'll use OBS myself, we'll see in the test run how things are I pressume.

Funny you should post that. I just picked up that very extender, and it works great for my laptop. Just need to see how well the connection works via the bridge and I think I'm golden.

EDIT: The connection is vastly improved. That did the trick.

Since Wednesday is tomorrow, question for everyone: Would any of you be able to jump on Discord after 12:00 noon to help me test the voice system? I need to see if Audacity will record audio the way I need it to, in this case, directly from the browser and on one track.

I could be available then.

I'll go ahead and jump on Discord then. See what setup I need to use to record with Audacity.

EDIT: I'm using the desktop app for now.

EDIT #2: Ran into a few issues. I need to disable, then re-enable my VPN to stop from getting disconnected, and Audacity gets a few hiccups in recording if I keep it at Average in System Priority.

EDIT #3: For the upcoming podcast, let's gather what resources we have about Fallout, such as links to the Fallout Bible, videos about the games and series, etc., and collect them in the video description.

Testing has proved that it'll be in Discord, btw.

It also proved that Hass is the Renaissance man ideal :-P
