NMA Post-apocalyptic film retrospective.

I've had a long time interest in war movies and they often have a kind of post-apocalyptic feel to them. For example Grave of the Fireflies is kind of both. But I should be able to write or even (gasp!) make a video review of a movie. Long time ago I even studied something called film science so I ought to know something about reviewing films.

The Bunker of the Last Gunshots is a very eerie short movie. Definitely recommended.

Although I have to say, as a LOOOONG time film aficionado and IMDB-member, it's sort of complicated to write about movies. I don't even remember when was the last time I read a 'film critics' review of a movie. Tbh I couldn't care less about some individuals opinion about a movie, especially if it's some run-of-the-mill hollywood POS. I mean sheesh. I mean, IMDB is full of people who know more about movies then the average film critic especially in my own country. So strange that some people are actually paid money to write some long-ass piece of text in a newspaper somewhere. I come across a long film review I just skip that ish. Why the hell should I read someone's personal opinion about a movie?

What I would be interested in reading would be a more personal view, one that perhaps has a strong view behind it, maybe a political/ethical/etc. perspective. Something interesting. And keep it short.

The difference between those reviews would be those assholes get paid for it. People like us are usually obsessed or more likely to enjoy what we are doing since it's for free.

Yes I know they get paid for it but I never read them. I've worked in a newspaper, the 'in house' - movie critic was a guy who gave 'stars' 1-5 to movies and wrote a very short description of them etc. Sometimes longer piece. I admired his professionalism, he'd been doing it for years. Still, it's a bit sad to just write about movies and ignore everything else including nearby arts such as literature and games.

It's harder than I thought it was going to be that's for damn sure. I have absorbed everything I possibly could about "A Boy and His Dog" from interviews to commentaries and while it does help to shape your content, it's still incredibly difficult because it still has to be informative without putting you guys to sleep.

Oh I'm sure your review will be more then good enough, I'm just sort of ranting against some of the stuff that actually gets published in newspapers etc. With the recent interest in Fallout and all things FO-related, you might even get your piece published somewhere and even get actual money for it. Just a thought.

Would you consider Things to Come in this catagory?

I'm aware this is an example of Victorian era Invasion lierature, at least the original that this film is adapted from. Even though Invasion predates post Apoc, I think this adaptation would fit in with the general themes.
