No Country for Old Men

I dont think i ever had a problem watching a new movie in theaters, the problem is nothing worth while came out in months. Still its nice to know that i could see No Country at the UA if i wanted too. Are movie theaters that much more liberal in NY?

Oh man, I actually went to UA to watch it. It's scary how close you actually live to me, I feel as if one fine day I might pass you and we'd never realize it.

Anyway, I saw the movie last Saturday with my father, and it was excellent. The movie theather was filled with (ironically) old men and old women. It's not too odd now, thinking about it - since most of the kids my age went to go see Beowulf and Hitman (:puke:) that weekend. When I went to see Pan's Labyrinth, the entire theather was filled with only old people also.

As for a review of the movie, it's hard. You need to go see it yourself, and I don't think anyone's personal opinion will be that helpful. The ending was nice. :D

well, i'd say Pan's was a nice movie and that the ending was pretty daring. overall, pretty good.

not something i'd watch several times over though.

as for kids, Silencer, they come in all shapes & sizes and in all different states of mind too!

It still pisses me off somewhat that Takeshi Kitano's films never made it to European cinemas (as far as I know). But c'est la vie.

They... do? Zatoichi was a big hit in Polandia.

I've been waiting for this movie for a while now. It will be released in Finland 7 March 2008. I guess I'll be waiting for that day.
Btw, has anybody seen Eastern Promises from David Cronenberg? They say its better than A History of Violence, which is another great movie from Cronenberg.

Double post! But fuck it, that's the priv of being an Admin.

Ok, saw it finally and I have to say, it helps to have read the book. Also, the book is way much better. I am amazed at how much was cut from the book.

Oh well... I think if the movie wins an award it is owed to the quality of the book more than the film.

Well, I finally had a day off on Sunday, and I decided to go see No Country for Old Men as it was the only movie that interested me on the marquee. I said I wasn't going to go see it until I read the book, but I lied.

I thought it was fantastic. I liked all of the characters and at no time did it feel like a Hollywood movie. The ending was spot-on. There were only five other people in the theatre at the time (11:55 pm on a Sunday night), and three of them verbalized how little they liked the final scene. I think the abruptness messed them up.

Now I will have to get to reading the book.
