No particular time of the day of the dead.

I'd be making my way to Japan, where they cremate the dead. Nice island, great food, few dead bodies.

Yeah but they have to deal with Godzilla, the ghosts of dead kamikaze pilots and tentacle demons with an unhealthy interest in their women.

Meh, we all have our problems.

Being in Australia, I'd moved to Tasmania, only has a population of half a mil. and no real chance of becoming a zombie outpost. Lots of fresh water, clean land and deep water surrounding it. Now if I could just get there.

Would have to learn how to fly a plane. There's a small airport near my house.

Maybe I should start having lessons..............

I live in northern Canada.

The first is the one for the town I live in now, which is fairly far north, and sits right at the base of a small ski hill. The day the outbreak started to get anywhere near town, I would begin to procure weapons and supplies. Canned goods, water bottles, and camping gear. As for weapons, I'd grab handguns for portability, hunting rifles (auto/semi-auto) for range and accuracy, and shotguns for mass damage and relative ease of use. I would also construct basic fortifications to my house.

I'd also get allies, tell people about my plan and what we can do, get everyone prepared to move on my order. I'd put special interest into people with survival skills or necessary supplies, or attractive women.

Within 48-72 hours social order will have collapsed. At that point I would call up (or drive around a pick up) anyone who was with me and make for either the RV court, RV dealership, one of the used RVs for sale by the highway, or the schoolbus depot. Once there, I would have a couple people loade up into one or two of the larger vehicles and then head up the ski hill road. For argument's sake we'll assume I'll have 6 friends with me.

The ski hill road is road that, after passing a couple sub-developments and houses, turns to gravel and winds it's way around the ski hill. Given terrain, it's approximatley 30-45 minute drive.

The ski hill itself is fairly basic. There's one chairlift and two T-bar lifts, a storage/medical building on one side of the hill, a lodge on the otherside, a small cabin at the top, and a series of privatetly owned cabins on one side.

If it where winter, the ski hill would likely have a decent number of people up skiing who had remained in their cabins for safety. If it where summer the number would doubtless be much smaller. Either way I would organize two teams (of 3 and 4) to remain in yelling distance and constant communication. These two teams would then sweep the hill for survivors or zombies. We'll assume for argument's sake 8 survivors are found. (total people 15).

After establishing a camp at the hill, sleeping quarters would be devided up amongst the abandoned cabins, with the exception no one have one building to themselves for safety reasons. Watches would also be organized as would rations and a list of preparations.

The next couple days would be spent re=enforcing defenses and creating barricades at key points with abondoned cars. Also, one of the RVs or school buses would be fortified as best possible, including metal extensions (on hinges to swing out if possible) designed to keep the bus from being toppled by zombies, and if possible a plough blade of some kind.

After a couple of days of preparation, the first of a series of raidng parties would be formed. These parties would take the modified vehicles and collect resources/search for survivors. Outside of food and supplies, other resources would include generators, solar power sources, tools, ATVs and Ski-Doos, radio equipment, and to search for survivors. We'll assume over a couple weeks another 15 survivors are found.

After settling in and organizing for a while, it would be time to think to the future. The first order of business would be to establish communication with the rest of the world. This would be done by salvaging equipment from Canadian Tire and Radioshack, as well as either taking over or salvaging the local radio-station. Ideally the radio station will be cleaned, fortified, and a re-playing loop message activated and broadcast across Northern British Columbia. Or if possible, relaying life communications from a smaller system up the hill.

After some time of living like this, perhaps a year or 3, it would be time to scout out the rest of the world. A collection of volunteers would be taken, lets say 10 out of an assumed 50+ people (collected survivors over years and a couple births). These 10 people (supposedly including me) would hopefully include someone who can run a train. Hopefully they would have a ham radio or other long range communication device, likely not though.

At the edge of town before the mountain begins is the train tracks, and there is usually at least one train parked there. Preferrably this scouting team would ride the trains as far north or south as possible (bypassing crowded highways but hitting most towns). If there is an experienced boatman or two, then they would head north to Prince Rupert or Kitimat and get a boat and hit coastal cities along the Pacific.

If not, they would head as far south as possible, before taking to the roads. Either way, the expidition would continue until a time limit had run out (a year perhaps), there had been severe casualties, or contact had been made with a major settlement.

If contact is made with a settlement, then diplomacy and communications are set up. Then other scouting parties find other settlements, and the re-construction of humanity begins.

.....I want to make a zombie movie some day, this is why I think about this so much. I also have several other ideas too, including two modified RVs put together on jack-lifted offroad wheels to create a plains-roaming land pirate ship.

Well there's a wall-mart near where I live and I would raid that for shotguns and ammo. Maybe a rifle with ammo. There are also numerous gun shops and pawn shops where I would raid for hand guns and ammo. Then I would stock up on canned and boxed food along with water.
I would gather up all the people I care about and find a heavy SUV type vehicle and drive around til I found a two story building with a flat roof. Barricade the first floor doors and obstruct the stairwells. I orgainze for shifts of zombie watch to go on for the next few weeks until there was a solid week of no zombie sightings. Don't know what I would do after that.
