Non Combat Resolution Prevalence?

Actually, the beginning companions in the game (Boone and ED-E) are surprisingly good at cleaning the countryside for you (thanks to ED-E's highly irritating kiting and Boone's headshot fetish) which helps a lot if you are a non-combatant / merchant type of character.

Ironically, I installed a deadly headshot mod for my game (2 or at most 3 shots to the head with a decent caliber kills anything) and because of Boone's personal hunting rifle (http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Boone's_scoped_hunting_rifle) the outdoor combats became too easy. Except for those damn cazadors....

Pacifist aproach is doable in civilised palces but you can't skip the combat during the traveling even on roads; no survival skill trick like in FO 1 and 2 and even damn highways are not patroled; I wonder how NCR keeps all those garisons and towns suplied... Besides sneaking entire game is no fun at all.

Aside from near the quarry, the roads themselves have relatively few critters. Doing a clockwise circuit from Goodsprings to New Vegas, the only encounters you're guaranteed to hit are the raiders between Mojave Outpost and Nipton and the raiders between Nipton and Ranger Station Charlie, and both are avoidable.
