Norton Antivirus 2005 and Mozilla Thunderbird

King of Creation

Maybe you guys could help me out with a small problem. I use Mozilla Thunderbird for e-mail, and I just updated my antivirus to Norton 2005 the other night. The problem is, every time that I go to open Thunderbird now, Norton crashes. I get an error message that reads" Symantec User Session has encountered a problem and needs to close." In addition, I can no longer retrieve my mail. I'm almost positive that I have no viruses on my system, as I've done quite a few full system scans, and since I can't get any new mail it's not like I'm getting a virus from that. So, anyone have any ideas?

Stop using Norton. It is one of the poorest and most overpriced anti-virus programs. Switch to something better and kill two flies with one stroke.

Yeah, but that still doesn't solve my current problem. Norton's not that bad...

Edit: Also, I just set up my accout in Outlook, and the same thing happens. Norton is just racist against email.

Just Say No

Just Say No

It's started long before Norton stopped supporting Mac OS.

Their Utilities stopped "helping" keeping one from reinstalling Windows even before ME.

I discovered that the 2004 version was rank beta and managed to trash an XP install when teamed up with Roxio CD software. Roxio sucks too.

The 2 XP machines gathering dust after the last LAN marathon with Warhammer 40k have Norton's 2003 because that was FREE. If you must exhibit codependant behavior see if New Egg still has 2003 versions for $20 or less.

Call their help line, wait, wait, wait. so you will be outrageously alienated, and then listen to the drivel their experts try to call support.

Tell them if their solution doesn't work you will F-Disk and reinstall.
With out Norton's.
It will be on their head that YOU will NEV-AH even Piss on a Symantec shelf display, much less purchase a Symantec product.

Just say NO to Norton's.

You got to quit cold turkey and you have to be PO'ed to let the righteous anger pull you through to redemption.

F-disk.

That's what I had to do to purge the VIRUS CALLED Norton's 2004.

Just say no to CRIPPLE WARE and F-Disk anyway.

Hint: there must be a reason that the rebates usually make the software half price. or less.

Oh, if they will HONOR your rebate that is ....

Just say NO to Norton's.

Use AVG Free instead. its... free. And it gets updated all the time. Works wonders.
