Norwegian Scientists Disprove God

If that is the case, then everyone in the entire world is fucked. There isn't a single person who follows all of the requirements of the current christian(catholic, mailny) religion.

So true........

So false. None of us are perfect as Jesus was, but in giving it your best you are securing a nice spot in the afterlife.

I dont believe in any god, I believe in nature and man. But im just a mortal and I could be wrong like everyone else. Nobody here knows what the hell they are talking about if they are stating facts about god and the afterlife. They too are only mortal men.

Ah, but some of us are mere mortals with divine guidance. I remember the days when I didn't believe in God either... Cold and lonely they seemed now. Sure I was married, had kids, some things were good, but a lot of the feeling I have now was missing, and those days are happily over.

Maybe when you die, and find some way to come back, then tell me about it. Anyway if there is a Christian god, then we are all screwed and going to hell. Its funny how Christians sin all their lives and then expect forgiveness and a ticket to heaven right before they die. AHAAHAH hypocrites!

So you speak for all of us? There is a word for that, "stereoptyping" and that word is based in utter ignorance. Being a Christian is more than just believing in God, the Eternal Father, and in his Son Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost, it is about living a Christian (i.e. Christ like) life. You do your best and put forth an honest effort. Many of us sin on occasion, including myself. These sins are minor sins, for me the rare curse word, not helping someone I should, etc.. However, there is repentance, and for it to be effective it must be true repentance (not, 'I'll ask God to forgive me today, but won't try to stop it in the future'). The Bible states that one can simply not 'Swear they believe in Jesus on their deathbed' and expect to go to heaven (James 2:14-18, special emphasis on verse 17).

But here is a fact. The bible was written by men and only men. These men were primitive and could not turn to the science of today to explain things. So maybe they believed everything they saw had to be the act of god. Lets say they saw a comet crash into the earth, they would think god is angry or something.

Maybe because God was angry and directed it at the earth. Humans are here to progress, not to be created and then warped into the future. These men were very wise and given divine guidance, but the world as it is today wasn't revealed to them for a purpose. It would be like starting a course in mathematics by taking something like vector calculus first. There is a lot of wisdom to be found in the Bible, regardless of the time period it was written in.

I can just picture Jesus walking through Israel saying, "And whilst thou drives thy Mercedes Benz, hold not thy cell phone to distract thee from thy mission, but grip thy steering wheel firmly and focus thine eyes through thine Oakley sunglasses and on the cross walk in front of thee; for failing to yield to pedestrians who art traversing the road is not of my Father's ways." Shaquille 3:54

Just as sharing wisdom in this time focuses on the events and knowledge comfortable to us in this time, wisdom back then did the same. For us in the future, to have been able to study the past, it is much easier for us to look at the context of the situation and apply it to our lives today.

I think, regardless of your faith in a religion, one should also remember that religion, regardless of how strong you believe in it, is irrational.

Christianity utilizes that faith in an irrational idea as a test of one's own faith.
Islam attempts to prove that faith through evidence.
Budhism thinks its all illusory anyway.

Being irrational, however, means that we need to be careful.

(1) Human beings are often irrational, and merely being irrational doesn't mean its not true. Rather, it's merely that you can't prove or disprove it through contemporary scientific methods. The existence of God is an unfalsifiable argument. One might believe in the supernatural. Good luck proving it.

(2) Be that we, as humans, are either born, or blessed, with our own rationality to sort out our world and lives (either for the blessings of an almighty God or merely for ourselves), we need to rest our choices on rational methods. Regardless of whether our motives are inspired by faith in values shaped by irrational faith, it is our rational understanding and approach to life that should guide our actions.

Therefore we need to distinguish secular and religious belief and method and becareful when the two meet.
