NPC- Behavior and Interaction?

I think that Fallout deserves a very complex NPC behavior engine. Something that would entitle every character of Fallout their own sense of personality through actions and dialogue.

I hated in Oblivion how they always stood when they spoke, never someone like Gizmo, eh? Anyways, I'd love for your followers to be dynamic and interactive with eachother if multiple's are included. Hell they should speak and interact with you. You should feel connected some way to your NPC. whether it's like an electronic-friend, or a distant companion cold shouldered. Some are cocky, flamboyant and others are modest and generous. I dunno... good idea?

I agree, the frist time I lost Sulik i felt sad and i kept the spear he was using in loving memory...

I agree with syphon the personalities that were given to the npc is one of the things that made the game desirable to play even after 10 years down the road! :D

I do like interesting NPCs.

I don't feel th need for the party system to be expanded upon. Fallout isn't party system, no?

Well I was thinkin', there's gonna be alot of map-traveling, like Oblivion, no? Well, if I decide to walk instead of fast travel, I'd like it if "MIKE" talked. You know, just like how human BULLSHIT. I dunno, really display human emotions. Even asshole characters would be cool. I could imagine him trailing behind, drunk, swaggering and swearing he could beat your ass. I mean, those types of little scenes of interaction would be memorable. No?

It would be fun for sometime, but after you have listened that whining, bullshit, asslicking how great you are etc. You might get pretty annoyed, and put a nice 9mm hole between your companions eyes.

Well yeah, it would, pretty much.
Myron was an annoying Jackass. I think about half of the people who put him in a party shoot him eventually (or find some other clever way to snuff him. Here Myron, you hold all these dynamites. Oops, they were armed. So sorry.). There were some well-formed party dialogs in Fallout 2. I love the float texts, they were funny. More partymember specific stuff would be cool (like how everyone picked on Myron), and I'd like to see some reasonable chances for the PC to have a relationship with an NPC (not necessarily like Baldur's Gate II and certainly not like Neverwinter Nights II -hey, this is the wasteland; why not casual sex?!) strictly because the more (fun) things you can do, the more absorbing the game is. I liked the romances in BGII but I didn't like the fact that they were essentially guessing at the right thing to say, took incredibly long to get anywhere, were controlled entirely by the NPC, and rarely went anywhere good. They either shouldn't have been such a drawn out affair or should have been more enjoyable.

But yeah, you guys know what I'm saying. The following template could fit wide arrays of character types, personalities stereotypical based on people. Fallout, no?

Big, black tough man. Mike tyson voice?

Lol. I'm high.
