Nuts for Jericho, Caps for Fallout ?

Stick together all you want.. but if parents groups and church groups can't accomplish anything.. How do you guys expect to?
Ironically, all the protesting and everything of the GTA games, actually made people even MORE interested in the game (forbidden fruit???), and sales of the game almost doubled, for a time

5. Turn based combat is slow,... Kids want fast paced action. Who buys the most games?.. 12 to 15 year olds.. the market is dictated by who buys.
Actually i'd say the age range is wider than that. Buddies used to buy games almost once a month at college (if not more), but yeah, the companies dictate to the 'targeted' market

buy enough shares of stock in the company so that they HAVE to listen to you.
That is interesting. By buying stocks you are actually helping 'fund' the company.
But if you get enough stocks, then you can become the "Majority Shareholder" and basically dictate what the company's course of action is.
Truthfully, i've found the best way to prove a game as being bad is just not to buy it.
Almost all games have a demo, and if the demo sucks, that will speak volumes for the actual game.
If it's good, it will do the same.

F3: I keep hearing that it will be solely FPP/FPS, and if so, thats Bull.
They should give the option to play it as the original Fallouts.

Man it's like sitting under the grumpy old guys balcony from the muppet show here.

1. I never said Fallout 3, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed..will be "Better" Than what we've played in the past
What? Yes you did.
""Wow! Games will never get better than this," And now I'm looking at Mass Effect and Assassins Creed and thinking the same thing"
Mandelbrot said:
...I have not played them. Games change, Times change... Why not have fun with what's available to you now?
Because we also want something more than what we have now?

2. A good sequel is a continuation of one idea.. but you can't keep rehashing the same idea and expect to keep an audience.. Eventually all shows/games/movies/books, go through a change to keep up with the times and they either bomb or sell.
Horseshit. The good series and the good sequels do keep to that one idea.
Oh, and guess what that one idea for Fallout was, the very core of the game? Yep. The P&P simulation. Including the turn-based combat.

4. They change to sell to a large market.. not to keep the thousand or so hardcore fans that couldn't keep a franchise in buisness anyway.
Fallout sells thousands of copies each year to this day. There are a lot more people than 'a couple of thousand'.
Also, if you're not going to cater to the fans, why the fuck did you pay $5 million for a franchise that has no value beyond the value the fans give it?

Hilariously misinformed, and a stupid point.
Most people who buy games are in their 20s. That's a statistical fact.
Furthermore, the niche of real-time action games is *fucking crowded*. Every single game aims at that niche, so why the hell would you want to make another game for that same niche?

So .. by not buying a game you lose out on getting to dictate what you like in games.. You lose the market.. If you really wanted to do something about Bethesda you have only one option.. buy enough shares of stock in the company so that they HAVE to listen to you.
Hah. If I were a triple billionair I could do that, yes.

I'm thinking that Fpp/Fps would be solely for the purpose of shooting.. I don't see why they would take the time to have you create a face that your fathers will be based off and then have a whole game where you can't see your character. But who knows.

I'm obviously still really positive on it and hoping for the best. I'll buy it and play it... If I don't like it I'll sell it on e-bay.

For talking heads?

I'm guessing that Sander is referring to another poll, and also, his point stands; kids aren't the biggest market.

To supply answer to the question asked earlier in the thread, "Why buy the Fallout license, if you're ignoring the established Fallout fanbase and making a game for your fanbase?"

I'd suppose that Bethesda likes the hype. They like the "oh look at us, we're making a sequel to this chic little game that smart people play, by association, we are also smart." Simply, there is no reason. The Bethesda guys wanted a new toy.

So suddenly the point is no longer to make games better, but just appealing to the lowest common denominator? And why didn't they just start their own post-apoc game franchise? It would have been cheaper and it wouldn't have brought all the "baggage" that Fallout brings, ie. existing fans and a complex setting.

Anyway, it's kind of useless to discuss with this Mandelbrot guy... he keeps contradicting himself, ignoring most of what others say and making bullshit up.

No it hasn't. Games (as most markets) have in the past often been about making products that appeal to certain people. Not making products that appeal to the widest possible group of people, because that approach leads to a crowded market filled with products that are only different in the details.

They are reaching out to a targeted market (majority of people whom they can squeeze money out of), but it would be better (for all) if they just targeted the Fallout Community.
The game (1+2), are still being bought(and downloaded*sigh*) all over. All be-it most are in the bargain bin, but it is almost as if it has no end to it's production.

Btw, 'question.' If Beth buys Fallout, is it still entitled to all sales of such game? and does it therefore hold the licenses to the F1/2 games as well? Cause when the game is released there may be another 'boom' of F1/2 CD production, and i'm curious who will receive the 'profits.'

Either way, i like the idea of shipping them "packaging peanuts" with a small note. :P lol
