Ok, what the hell?

Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
I know, posting way too much peripheral news for Interplay now, but they just keep coming out of nowhere with this stuff.
BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Interplay Entertainment Corp. (OTC Bulletin Board: IPLY - News) announced today that the company signed a partnership arrangement with Earthworm Jim creator Douglas TenNapel to relaunch the videogame icon.

TenNapel will serve as a creative consultant on Earthworm Jim 4, and will simultaneously develop an animated series and feature film to expand the well known brand.

TenNapel created the original Earthworm Jim character, which Interplay developed into a video game with Shiny Studios for the Sega Genesis console in 1994. The game became an immediate hit, and later spawned sequels on various computer and video game platforms, including Earthworm Jim 2, Earthworm Jim 3D, and Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy.

The iconic character became a virtual hero whose popularity took him far beyond video games into TV and toys. An animated Earthworm Jim television series, produced by TenNapel, aired for two seasons from 1995 to 1996, on The Kids WB! with Dan Castellaneta of "The Simpsons" providing the voice for the title character.
Link: Earthworm Jim Lives! The way that's worded makes it sound like "Earthworm Jim 2, Earthworm Jim 3D, and Earthworm Jim: Menace 2 the Galaxy" are "computer and video game platforms".

I'd take an Earthworm Jim over a PS3 any day.

Heh, remember when games *were* platforms, Gareth?

One of the first games I've ever played was a Mario cement factory game where you were supposed to turn levers to get the cement into a truck. Even though it was Mario, it was pretty good.

Well, Interplay are certainly claiming that they're going to do a lot...

Let's hope they don't spread themselves too thinly. Will Herve remember that they aren't the big players they once were, and be able to restrain their development programme until the company is financially secure?

If they do this right, (and I do trust TenNapel), and IPLY don't mess it up, this could be very, very, cool.

It's too bad they had to whore out Fallout to get back on their feet. Otherwise we'd be talking about a Van Buren revival perhaps

Excuse me lack of education on this subject, but is Interplay still legally able to make, let's say Fallout 4? Or their OWN Fallout 3? Or is it now Bethesda who owns the franchise?

I have very fond memories of Nintendo's "Climber" Game-and-Watch and Bandai's "Frankenstein", which actually ha two LCDs layer on top each other for "scene changes". Pretty nifty. Mind you, I wouldn't trade my DS for them. ;)

Politics it`s a saver here :D Now let me explain my self :D Some while ago a law was passed in X part of the globe , makes a lot of people unhappy , Politics save the day they cancel that law and make another just like that of course with another name  in other word they just wipe the the name clean with the sponge and write another :D .

The Fallout development team doesn't exist any longer. Take a long, hard look at the last Fallout game Interplay released, and think about the fact that they canned Van Buren whilst doing so. There really is no guarantee - even setting aside their current somewhat uncertain status - that Interplay can make a good Fallout game (even though they've hired Jason Anderson - probably - to make the MMO).

Someone, someday, will make another post-apocalyptic game which is worthy of comparison to Wasteland and Fallout, but will it be Interplay? Does anybody really care whether it is Interplay? Not me...

(Perhaps it will be Fargo?...)

Hol-y-shit, that is fantastic news! EWJ 1 and 2 where quite possibly my favourite games on the Sega Genesis. If they can do the series proper I might just brake down and cry for joy.

Now, all I need is for someone to do a new Herzog Zwei and I just might die and go to heaven.

Ok, you saw my post on NEVERHOOD MOVIE in the general discussion. I hope TenNapel won't scratch Neverhood for EJ. I like EJ but Neverhood has more style. It's a more mature style of abstract "cartoon". EJ is a bit more childish. That's my opinion and now choke on it. But gently. Please. :)

There is no guarantee, but Anderson pretty much has free sway when it comes to hiring people and progressing this project. The big risk is will they get the money, and there's a big doubt about their ability to do that, but if they manage to fund it, it's Jason's turf, baby.

Yeah, I know.

They're going to switch servers anyway, maybe that's what they're doing. Don't expect a brand new site launched when it goes back, tho'.
