On you first time playing fallout 1...

Oracle

Vault Senior Citizen
On you first time playing Fallout 1 who did you destroy first :The Cathedral or the Military base?

For myself it was the Cathedral. I believe i didnt met the master back then. I used the bomb inside and the place was BOOM!!
lots of exp. so I thought it was the right thing to do.

I first blew up the Vats and then got pissed off because I realised that the sniper rifle was the most powerful small gun in the game...

Repeat the following procedure 10 times:
-Master was hit for 8 hit points.
-Master was hit for 6 hit points.
-Master was hit for 7 hit points.
-You were hit for 24 hit points.
-You were hit for 18 hit points.
-You were critically hit for 145 hit points, bypassing your armor. The blow knocks you off your feet.
-You were killed.

Next time I played I wiped the floor with him using a Turbo Plasma Rifle.

i almost always end up destroying the mutant base before the cathedral. i thought that was the logical way to do it?
(well, at least it is if you're good buddies with the BoS)

It is, but on my first try I never got into the BoS. I never was to stay alive when leaving the glow.

The Cathedral. And for roughly the same reasons as Oracle: I found the BOS bunker and got the Glow quest, but I couldn't figure out how to enter the crater, so I never was admitted to the BOS and never got the quest to check out the menace from the North. And I didn't have internet back in those days, so I wasn't able to google the answer either. Ah well, it's nice to remember the times when there was still so much for me to discover in the Fallout world. When I play Fallout nowadays, it often feels as if I fucking designed the game myself. I kinda sorta know it through and through - like most of you, I guess.

The first time I completed Fallout 1 I blew up the vats first. I had actually visited the Boneyard and the Cathedral after I brought back the Water Chip but before going to the Glow. I went into the Cathedral's basement and found the Master's Vault, and got the location of the base down there, but I left the rest of it for later. Explored the Glow and then Lost Hills, and went to the Military Base from there after getting help from the BOS. After that I went back to the Cathedral and used the Lieutenant's key to set off the nuke without fighting the Master.

I first came to the Military Base through the BoS. I destroyed it and then I realized there was still a place I hadn't visited. Which was the Cathedral. I quickly found it and went in. I blew it up with the nuke before even visiting the Master. Actually, I never knew about the Master until the third time I played the game.

Amen, Brother alec! You're preaching gospel to the choir!

Actually, I'm not religious at all, but the sentiment's still the same. Isn't it hard to play through without taking advantage of all the places you know you can get hooked up with the best gear in a hurry? Or the places to get a lot of XP for doing practically nothing?

I got the base first. Destryed it prior to getting Water Chip, 'cause I got lead there by Harry in Necropolis.
Went to control room trying to shut down the force fields, and was very happy to learn I could just blow the place up. :)

On the first time through I blew up the Vats first, then the cathedral. And because I'd gotten the 100 extra days, I didn't need to get the water chip anymore.
Fun stuff, that.

On my first time, I first killed the rats..err, vats, then the cathedral, mostly because that was what my brother told me to do, but it also felt logial to kill the big bad end boss last.
