Original adds for fallout, anybody?

First time out of the vault
I was wondering what kind of info and images were released before actual release of the original games. What kind of impression of the games were given to the audience...did it bring forward the right expectations?
This to compare with what weve seen so far of f3.

any suggestions for links regarding info on this?

Fallout 1 was advertised a bit. I was aware of it before the demo was released but the demo convinced me to buy the game. In the last few weeks before Fallout 1 release I remember being really excited and full of anticipation. I was of course blasted away and fell in love.

Fallout 3 is overhyped and it's obvious that it'll disappoint everyone but those bribed "journalists" all around the world. Welcome to the year 200...8.
 
Fallout 2 was may first actual game-exp. I was lucky a good friend introduced me to it. that was around 2000. But since I really involved in the videogame thing, I also wasnt aware of any adds.

Can you tell me some more about the nature of the adds? like did show a creature, an item?
was it textual, like intervieuws?
