Overseer in a Fridge DLC

Jogre

So Old I'm Losing Radiation Signs
So, this morning Vault-Tec Workshop was officially released to the public. Luckily I was smart enough not to buy the season pass. I did however, watch a Let's Play of it, and it is far more cancerous than I thought would be(My reaction to everything Bethesda has shat out thus far).

Lets start with getting a radio signal from Vault 88. Basic premise for any quest DLC in a 3D Fallout game so far.

You follow said radio signal, until you arrive at the Vault, which is being laid under siege by a group of Raiders. Why are the Raiders attacking a closed Vault?, That is quite obviously a bad idea. Why are they even attacking this place?, What are they hoping to achieve?, Y'know, if your going to use throwaway enemies, AT LEAST give them some reason to be there, instead of just assuming we won't question it.

Then we go in, and there are tons of Feral Ghouls 'n shit. You shoot your way through and eventually come across the Overseer. In the middle of a cavern, unable to access any of the Vault.

Seriously Bethesda, you know the shit that Kid in the Fridge caused, at least put some source of food somewhere, even if just for peace of mind.

Then you get on to the part where she goes over to a Feral Ghoul named Julian who starts attacking you(And you end up killing), and she just shrugs it off. She's been in this Vault with these ferals for over 200 years, and she's perfectly fine with you just killing them. At least give your characters some emotions Bethesda.

This shit was just so f*cking stupid, that I couldn't bare to watch after that point.

Really?

Kid in a Frigde 2.0, good job bethesda.

I knew you it would suck after the rest of the DLC, but they don't give a shit anymore it seems.

Every DLC is just the same garbage, without any substance. I still regret buying season pass for 30$ but they could have done something a bit better.

Like create an abandoned vault and let us rebuilt it, by sending robots or settlers in there like Vault 15.

I give up, Nuka-World will be just as shitty as Fart Harbour.

To be fair, Far Harbor wasn't too bad. They stole all the right questlines for it.

I would argue that. The storyline was a bit better, and there were less essential characters but that is about it. It was still the same loot, shoot and return. And this DLC made me hate Bethesda even further.

You know, when you have to bring the power back to the console DIMA wants?

Well, I thought I had to reroute the power from the submarine or something, but noooo there was a lever right behind it.

Sorry, that I wanted to use my brain for once bethesda.

That and settlement bullshit in DIMA's memories made me quit this DLC.

Even when they try this they fail because they have no idea how to build emotional attachment without resorting to cheap tricks. 'Assumed Empathy' is the term for what they mostly engage in, assuming you'll feel emotions and an attachment because 'blank'.

As an example, in Mass Effect 3 the tag line of the game used in promotional materials was 'Take Back Earth'. But before that point Earth has basically never been shown all that much and we have literally no investment in it or the people there. The game devs ask us to feel something based on nothing more than the fact it's Earth and we should care about the 11 billion people there because... reasons. They put no effort into making us care.

Likewise, Bethesda's infatuation with family takes the same route, expecting us to give a shit just because our son – who we've never met beyond an awful 5 minute opening segment and don't give a shit about – has been kidnapped and our wife/husband – likewise who we've not been given a reason to care about – is shot.

I came across one of their random encounters last night as it happens, not far from the iron works location. Four people around a buried body giving it last rights and talking in sad voices about how the world is a harsh place and their friend didn't deserve to die. I just shrugged and moved on, it didn't move me one iota because I don't know these people, I don't know the dead guy, I don't give the remotest of shits. Again, assumed empathy just because some random dude died and these people are a bit sad. I don't care, Bethesda, that's not how stories work.

*sigh*

It's already got more negative than positive reviews.

My favorite so far: "This game is having a serious identity crisis"

It also appears to have made the entire base game drop from Mostly Positive to Mixed in the Recent reviews category. LOL "Fallout 4: A Near Perfect Videogame!" a more accurate title is "Fallout 4: The Lowest Rated Fallout Game on Steam!"

Holy shit I think this is their most negatively rated DLC yet:

So I'm assuming you missed the part where she had the Vault-Tec rations and other food you could see she had stored? 10/10 detective work.

That's not really applicable. They talk about how the Vault was unprepared when the attacks began (literally construction had barely begun, but I guess they had rations for 200 years???). How do you defend that?

The vault wasn't constructed, but the materials were there, it had the shipments literally inside the cave with all kinds of stuff in it.

The materials were there, okay? The materials for BUILDING THE VAULT WERE THERE. How are they supposed to stock a vault that isn't complete and doesn't have any confirmed occupants other than a skeleton crew of security and an overseer?

They literally had food on most of the train cars, so I don't see what you're trying to argue. You can go into it and look at it yourself.

Who the fuck brings the cooking ingredients to a kitchen that's only got the frame work done? (METAPHOR!!!)

Why would they ship food before the vault is complete? Those crates would just be in the way of the construction. I mean if i build a house irl then the last thing im going to bring is furniture and food. Go to building sites and see just how many of them has a bunch of crates of food just lying around.
