Last week I bought a copy of PoR:RoMD.* Yeah, PoR:RoMD. Say it with me: 'PoR:RoMD.' Good. Now, today I installed PoR:RoMD, but when I double-clicked the icon and wanted to start playing, I got a black screen which lasted for about two seconds before... my desktop reappeared. I checked some PoR:RoMD sites and posted the problem on one of them, but most PoR:RoMD sites look pretty abandonned so I thought: 'Let's ask the guys.'

It's nothing to do with system requirements, I'm sure. I remember playing the demo of this game 2, 3 years ago and everything was fine. You need a Pentium II 400 or more and I've got an AMD Thunderbird 1.3, and you need 64 MB RAM and I've got 256.

Anyone recently installed PoR:RoMD? Anyone had the same problem with PoR:RoMD?

Ah well, in the mean time I've reinstalled Fallout on my computer... :P

I've installed it on an XP Pro system and it works quite well.

As for the game itself, it...well...sucks :?

Here's an extract from the game's walkthrough that greatly summarises the game, IMHO:

"Party Member 1 attacks Orc - Miss!
Party Member 2 attacks Orc- Miss!
Orc attacks Party Member 1- Hit! -10HP!
Party Member 1 attacks Orc- Miss!
Party Member 2 heals Party Member 1, +10HP!
Orc attacks Party Member 1- Hit! -10HP
Repeat this for about half an hour then try something new:
Party Member 1 attacks Orc- Miss!
Party Member 2 casts Magic Missile at Orc- Immune!
User Exits to Windows..."

and another one:

"In the days before the fall of Myth Drannor the home armies were diverted from battle and given masonry tools to seal up half the doors in city. The plan was to annoy the invaders by having them walk endlessly around the city looking for a usable door. It seems that the one indispensable quest item your adventurers forgot to bring with them was a battering ram."

You can read the walkthrough at http://www.rollespilcentralen.dk/walk/poolofradiance.txt, it is hilarious

It sucks, huh? Ah well, I only payed 8 Euros for it.

Still haven't found a way to get it working, though...
