On the beach was good? I loved the book, maybe I'll give the movie a try.

Actually I think I was thinking of the book.

Not as good as Dr. Strangelove, certainly.

Oh there's this flick called Miracle Mile with Anthony Edwards which is kind of neat.

Edwards meets the girl of his dreams and is supposed to meet her after work, but he sleeps through the meeting. THen he gets a telephone call from a guy in a missile silo trying to warn his father that World War 3 has started and they got like 40 minutes before the world, as they know it, ends.
Does Edwards find the girl? Do they escape?

Kind of neat.

I remember being a hollywood video and seeing this video on the bottom shelf called Fallout. I was all excited then I read the back of the video. It was about a office building fire or something. Then they were trapped in a fallout shelter I think. I said screw this.

Anyway Stephen King's the Stand was good.

You remember BEEING a Hollywood movie....... ??!

My bad................Damn you

Awesome low budget movie. Every small film that wants to atract a larger audience should be like that: an idea to make it diferent, in this case the action takes place real time, the character does have 70 minutes to sort things out, a good start and a great ending. I mean the first time one wanders into the wasteland in Fallout 1 there is always some relief, like in "we made it after all!" , to those that saw that movie.

Go get the DVD everyone, again it´s pretty low budget but the creativity it uses pays off.

Escape from New York surely qualifies. One of John Carpenter's best.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 certainly did a handfull of them over the years too, but I assume you mean good PA movies.

I just saw threads today for the first time. It was a good movie but I was expecting scarier. I guess if I was living during the cold war I would be pretty scared.

Are there any post nuclear movies coming out in the future? I would like to see a new, big budget, post nuclear movie come out in the near future.

weren't they starting work on a new mad max a while back? I thought it hit some kind of trouble though... has anything come of that?

Yeah. It was supposed to be filmed in Namibia, but they cancelled it because of the Iraq war.

... Yes, that's the official explanation. :?

I have a hard time watching these PA movies because I compare the movies setting, and feel to the Fallout games. The Mad Max series is probably the closest thing I have seen movie wise to fallout. Is everyone here against having a movie based off of the fallout game?

It's an interesting idea, but would be very hard to pull of well. Given the movie industries track record with video game movies I would have to say no.

Fallout 1 and 2 had such great storylines. They would make a great scripts for a couple movies. But you are right, some director who thinks he knows what's best will start changing the story and completely fuck it up. Plus squeezing all of fallout 1's story into 2 hours of movie just won't do.
