Paid too handsomely?

You know what would have been kinda fun? Founding a town. With enough caps you can hire workers to build/repair some structures, tap into the power and water lines, then attract some venders and whatnot. Build an armory and stock it up to fight off raiders, maybe buy some slot machines and set up a casino of your own. All that stuff would have been something actually interesting to dump money and supplies into developing rather than just tossing it all into my infinite junk drawer to gather dust.

Yeah, that would be good and something I would definitely get stuck into, you could buy mercs and try and get the crimson caravan to go by your way. But with that sort of feature, the developers would have to make sure not to blur RPG with a build-em up game

Or rather than found a town, help a struggling town. If they made Primm much more devastated by the Powder Gangers, you could invest caps to repair and rebuild it, and end up with the ability to get a steady income from your stake in the town/casino. Hell, it'd further motivate you to clear out quarry junction so that people would be more interested in taking the that road up to vegas instead of going to long way round.

Or you could do it with Novac, too, help out and help build up some defenses against the Legion.

Whenever i have excessive amounts of caps i find a hobo in freeside and reverse-pickpocket him and give him 10000 caps. Somehow i lose karma for this?

To be honest, this should have been mandatory for House's story line, or he should at least have mentioned that it was a good idea. For a guy that no one has seen, he needs good publicity in the wastes, and going around starting fortress settlements for wastelanders would do that.

Money corrupts people.

How about rebuilding Nipton? Depending on your choices, resources, and affiliations there are tons of things that could be done with the place.

Re-open the Lucky 38 hire and pay staff (possibly a minor faction like the Kings) to run the thing and invest money in features for it. In exchange you get access to items (even unique ones) that patrons trade in at the casino. The more you invest in the casino the better the patrons and type of items you get.

Just a thought

That would be pretty awesome, I also wanted the kings to have a bigger influence and I was disappointed that they did not have a bigger role to play; personally I wanted them to run a casino on the strip because 1) there was too few casino's & 2) the kings seem to actually care about the people in freeside and could possibly use there earn caps to improve the area

There's a mod for running the Lucky 38, complete with upgrades and whatnot to make it a bit of a cash sink I believe. Haven't tried it myself but apparently it's fairly popular.

Well, now i look stupid for not knowing that, doesnt help me though (im one of those geniuses who thought it would be a smart buy on the 360) And it doesnt help the cap issue...in fact it exacerbates it, but its pretty close to what i was thinking. It couldve also been used as a nifty quest for the main factions to exploit for various reasons like;

NCR want you to secretely set it up so their soldiers have a safe place to gamble.

Yes Man wants more revenue and use it to run up a tab on influential NCR citizens.

Caesar wants you to set it up and fill it with legion loyals who spy on the shitfaced NCR soldiers and officers.

Couldnt do it with House or if Caesar dies.

Ditto on that, loved the Kings as a faction and would really have liked more to do with them. That also goes for the Gun runners, i never understood why they gave no quests themselves and were only involved in 2 overall.
