Pete Hines passes on another Fallout 3 question

In an interview about Oblivion on the Belgian Gamesplanet, press man Pete Hines was asked to comment on Fallout 3. He gave the usual answer, which we can only post here for its own sake:<blockquote>Last question, could you give us some information about Fallout 3? I know many RPG-fans are desperatly waiting to get some news about this game.
I would say to them that you can take a look at Oblivion in terms of what to expect from us. What I mean is, we take our projects seriously. We make sure we put in the requisite time to do them right. And, we tend not to really talk about them or even let people know we’re doing them until we’re a long way into development and actually have things we can show and talk about. So with Fallout 3, folks were made aware of it because of the announcement, but from a development standpoint we’re still in pre-production mode. It will be a LONG time before we start talking to folks about what we’re up to. I know they’d like more info, but as I said we really don’t plan to say anything until we’ve made some real progress. </blockquote>I think "look at Oblivion in terms of what to expect from us" is a rather poor choice of words, since people will draw the wrong conclusion. Before anyone's confused, he means we can expect the same long, careful development and not-saying-too-much that people know from TES.

Spotted on RPGCodex, who obligingly posted two different newsposts about it. And thanks Briosafreak

Maybe he mean the time and care they put into the game. I mean Morrowind wasn't my favorite type of game in the world, but it ran pretty good, had few issues (at least when i played it) and was well produced.

I think that is the only comparasion one could make from Oblivion to Fallout.

Of course, this is how I interpret it, not everyone will do the same

Off topic here, but Morrowing had some good things, but unfortunatelly also had many many issues, you were lucky i guess.

I liked morrowind the first few days I played it. Then after a few days it became old. Everything has a sort of a "generic" feel about it. Although I can't wait to play oblivion when it comes out. It looks like they made improvments. I wish there were more RPG's coming out for PC that were not Online monthly pay.

Metal Hearts Replicants Rampage comes out very soon, turn-based CRPG with a (I think) futuristic setting.

I've already pre-ordered my copy from EB Games, I'll keep you all posted.

i hope the patches are applied to the US release of MH, ither way the patch download is not too great.

I hear the storyline is VERY linear, but with sidequests. Still fun from what I have heard also. (plus it's $20, whaddya expect? ;) )

So is Metal Heart replicants Rampage out yet and if so is there a english release? I just checked out the site and the game definitely looks like it is worth trying out.

Edit. I'm a idiot. I see you preorderd it.

...Ok now I see it comes out tomorrow on the 2nd.

Fallout 3...... Fallout 3.......... Someone should find a way to tilt the camera in Oblivion to the standard fallout angle. just to get some idea of the engines potential.... and while they're at it, change it to isometric. would love to see that

I'm trying to play through Morrowind at the moment (call it ... homework) and I am finding the same thing.

I've only just started, but already the temptation is there to ignore the story, cast and plot and just spend my time jumping up and down, running in circles and repeating every other simple action that will level me up.

I'm not quite sure why I am doing it, perhaps it is that other games encourage you to level up by perfoming meaningful quests (or even just by killing stuff), wheras Morrowind encourages endless repetition by rewarding it so much. Now, I like the idea of improving attributes by using those attributes, but not quite in the way Morrowind works.

I hope Oblivion improves upon this and Fallout Three improves upon that.

I wouldn't expect much from Metalheart... First impressions are rather negative.

Ahhh crap. Thanks for ruining my day.

That makes 2 of us... I'll still be shellin' out $20 for the preorder and playing/reviewing the game, but I changed the $10 1 day shipping to free 5 day shipping.

I hope the patches make the game better :badmood:

Morrowind was a big time consumer for me. I was very taken with the non-linear set up. Hell I never finished the main story I had too much fun exploring.

The non-linear set up was a great thing about morrowind. But the NPC dialog was retarded. By the way what was the main quest in morrowind because I don't even remember coming across it. When I play a Rpg I like to have some kind GOOD story. Some kind of purpose. I think that was the nail in the coffin for me.
