Pipboy... err I mean Vault-Boy FRM and basic mod - Completed

Wild_qwerty

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
I have just about finished making a new Pipboy FRM that can be used in FO2. But I need a volunteer to test it, it will but about a 6-7MB zip file (FRMs compress very well).

I should be done today, I only have to do the walking FRMs and then it will be done. This is just a example of what can be done using Spr2Frm. I only started this FRM today, so it doesnt really take long to make one once you know the process.

So any volunteers who want it I can eitehr email it to you or upload it to NMA, but I would prefer to have it tested first beofreI upload it.

I'll volunteer, won't be able to actually test it until tomorrow afternoon though, ~4PM EST.

Thats OK, I just had the idea to have the Pip-Boy suit availble as an armour type (no bonus's) that you can pick up and wear in the starting village. I figured that this would be a good way to test it. I will put the FRMs into the Patch001.dat file and then send it to you.

Alright, send it to spmontez @ hotmail.com. If there's some problem sending it that way let me know and I'll see about getting some FTP space for you to upload it to.

Looks like it works guys! I have just added it to the Pot in Harkins tent, so you can wear it after you complete the temple of trials.

I will upload it to NMA very soon. This mod is only too get the impression of what the Pip-Boy will look lie in the game. So all you other modders feel free to make a real mod with him, just credit me for making the FRM. The Pip-Boy FRM does not have animations for a flamer or sledge hammer (but I subtituted the club for the hammer). All the rest of the FRMs are there so you can use him as a PC armour type (like in this mod).

He looks really cool when he kicks people :)

That's not the Pip Boy. That's the Vault Boy.

How did you do this? This looks like the exact same character you can find in one of the special encounters in Fallout Tactics (who is - yes, you're right - called Pip Boy (but wrongly so)).

Looks great.

No, its pipboy :p

He used a new tool to export the sprite from tactics and make a FO engine FRM with it.

Alec is right. That is vault boy check Leonard Boyarsky dev profile.

Leonard Boyarsky :

I also came up with the idea/design for the “Vault Boy” and the “cards” (as I called them) showing him doing all the different things in humorous ways. By the way, he’s not the Pip Boy, the Pip Boy is the little guy on your Pip Boy interface. The Vault Boy was supposed to evoke the feel of Monopoly cards, and the Pip Boy was based on the Bob’s Big Boy mascot

never knew this before until today

Not bad as it only took a day to make the whole thing :) I didnt know about the name Vault-Boy, too bad I name the FRM NMPipB. I have uploaded it, so as sooon as it gets approved you can download him

nice job !!!

I sure that i'm going to check this one out

I just luv all those fallout modders out there

Its not really a mod as such it only adds a new armour Prototype for the Vault-Boy. It has no addtional protections what so ever. It simply looks cool (I still think the jumping round-house kick looks the coolest!) The only ting that I have noticed so far is that he seems to run quite fast, so I could maybe slow the running FRM down a bit.

The 'mod' is based apon the offical patch001.dat. I extracted this file and then added the Vault-Boy suit (sorry I called it Pip-Boy in the mod)

Until now I thought the name was "Fallout Boy", that's what everyone called him as it became known that he is NOT PipBoy (who has a different color theme and only looks amazingly similar).

*EDIT*
Make that 8.10 MB and I have just emailed it to you now, if its to big I will just send you the FRMs in a zip file

Just in case you haven't: Please ask people before you mail half your harddisk to them.

Sorry the firewall at work just bloked the email, I will have to password protect it so it doesnt scan inside the zip file. I will re-send it in a few minutes the password for the zip archive will be 'qwerty'

*EDIT*
The new archive is slightly smaller (7.7MB)

Quick question (hopefully): What else do you have to do to add an item? That is, after you get done with the .frm, what else do you have to do to get the item in the game?
