Pistols vs Rifles vs Shotguns

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
What is the range for each? Should you use all three, two, or just one? What's the difference between rifles and shotguns? Which is better?

Rifles: Good range, iron sights on some are absolute shit, semi-auto/lever action/bolt action rifles tend to be on the nose accurate, nice initiation (SAC), but after that, meh to decent.

Shotguns: HUUUUUUUUGE variety of ammo and viability, basically your swiss-army-knife of shooty-shooty bang bangs. Want accuracy for long distance hits? Grab a Hunting Shotgun, load up a slug and aim dead center, your shots will (Mostly) hit the targets dead on. Cripple limbs insanely fast? Go for the Dragon's Breath shotgun and fire away. Robutz ruining the party? Pulse Slug tells them to fuck off.

Initially starts off 'meh' until you sink perks into them and build the correct build for shotguns (Critical Build with Trigger Discipline for maximum accuracy on spread), afterwards becomes hilariously insane. Shotgun ammo begs for a junk-hoarder/scavenger kind of fellow, as one of the most ridiculous ammo shells (Coin Shot) demands for a keen eye...and a favor/bloodlust for Legionaries.

The only con afterwards is that you cannot use VATS with shotguns. They're bugged within them, and it's best to never use that feature with shotties.

Funfact: The highest damaging weapon in terms of firearms is not the AMR as kiddies would like to believe, but is in fact a SHOTGUN, The Big Boomer.

P.S. when built right, Shotguns will crit all the fucking time, doing insane damage SAC and OUT.
