Yeah, I just have a lot of free time and I love Fallout, and I wanted to replay 1 and 2 Fallout's, but found this thread and think maybe I should try something new instead of going through the first two games.

How should I spec my new Legion character in F:NV? I'm going for melee and maybe explosives?

I don't know, really. I remember when I build a melee character, I just load my char on 16-17lvl with 10 Luck and 3 or 4 Strength and rush melee skill and play. I think there are guides on the Internet about spec, skills, perks.

Ok so Melee, and then Explosives (just to have a ranged attack, am I thinking this right?) and then Survival as tagged skills?

Never played with explosives and survival skills. It will be interesting to read what it's like.

Melee + Explosives doesn't seem viable because Explosives relies on Perception and you are supposed to dump Perception for the Melee build.

However most Melee builds use both Melee and Unarmed which to me seems redundant. Melee + Survival and then what should I choose?

And what happens if you dump luck? And what is Charisma really needed for? The Melee build I saw had 6 Charisma and 1 Luck...

Ok so with my new character I went with Melee, Medicine and Survival. And then Skilled and Hot Blooded for traits. Hot Blooded seems to be just annoying, like most of the traits.

I just completed Goodsprings on my Legion run siding with the Powder Gangers. It felt really awful to cut down Sunny Smiles, her dog, Trudy and Easy Pete. But it had to be done. I guess I will continue to feel uneasy as I go through with this.

e: And poor Doc Mitchell also died trying to defend his town.
