PLEASE GOD HELP ME

The computer I currently use has windows ME installed...It came along w/ the computer:(...And I haven't installed XP yet...Don't know why...Stupid me!!!!!! ....The most terrible operating system I've ever tried....I tried mac os X a while ago, GREAT when it comes to stability!!!!!!!:D, the complete opposite of ME....

I would rather think it's stupid to install XP, of course the version that we used might have included errors. What I've heard about ME (and that would be the only information), is that it actually is nothing more than a clone of 98...but whatever.

WinME is nothing more than a patch set for Win98SE that just breaks more than it fixes and doesn't offer that much over Win98SE. The amount of memory and HEAP problems alone with ME would have anyone trying like hell to remedy the problem.

People still use ME?

Whoa...

The ones who bought a new PC before XP became the standard offering and can't/won't shell out the £95 for XP Home Edition still do...

I put XP on my 2 year old ME equipped machine as soon as I could and have found it way more stable and nicer to use than ME.

Seriously, Win98SE disks, full version, are still possible to get and are leagues better than WinME. Often cheaper, too.

I'm not an expert on Windows, but I think if you're planning on playing any games and aren't going to setup up a network installing Win2000 would be a very bad idea.

Thats win2k server your thinking about dude, Win 2000 pro is very stable and nice, I had it before I got my xp pro. Go for it dude!

I recommend XP, I haven't had any problems that it couldn't recover from. I only had to restart once, when some random DLL got corrupted. It automatically fixed it. It seems as though Microsoft finally got it right.

If you have the time, Linux is highly recommended by my friends.

I haven't found any reason to upgrade to pro yet, what am I missing.
