Right, we had this before, I guess, but I also guess it's time for another politics thread that will inevitably go down in petty namecalling, terrible memeing, and fighting windmills and strawmen alike.
So fire away, you sad sacks of shit, and never stop believing that your next meme about lurrals/Drumpf will totally change your opponent's mind.

30.

RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE

I kind of laugh at people who seriously think Hillary's gonna go to the slammer. I dislike the crone as much as anyone but there's no way she's gonna do time, sorry.

Anyone hear about the UK Government falling apart? And I'm just sitting here in the middle of it all sipping my tea

Yeah, I'm honestly surprised out of all the European countries it's England who can't get their shit together right now. That's what happens when you rock the boat, though. Still better than what's going on across the pond. Americans are getting more and more divided by the day over minor ideological differences. Why? Because they're watching too much sensationalist TV and spending all day spouting propaganda on Twitter. People need to go the fuck outside and talk to each other in real life again. This blind hatred is getting out of control here.

I fully agree with what you just said. I got so fed up today when I learned the UK Mayor of London (Sadiq Khan, who is completely incompetent) had allowed for a derogatory inflatable balloon of Donald Trump to be flown during his visit here. What an embarrassment. London is so far disconnected from the UK it's unbelievable, I'm not surprised they do the things they do.

For those that haven't seen the balloon:

Pretty funny if you ask me, and not shocking it was approved considering the mayor has a bone to pick with Trump as it is. Truthfully, as long as you get the proper air space permits, nobody should really be banned from flying anything. But just because you can do something doesn't necessarily mean you should. That baby is certainly doing nothing to ease political tensions right now.

There's no such thing as politics you idiots, the Vatican rules us all.

I remember him saying something along the lines of 'Terrorist attacks are part and parcel of living in a big city'. Anyway the UK is messed up on multiple levels. I could go on.

It's puerile as all hell and will accomplish nothing but beyond that I don't think I care. I've gone out of my way to avoid opining too deeply about places outside the US but you couldn't PAY me to live in the UK right now and ESPECIALLY not in London. I personally think that the UK is even further along to a 1984-esque dystopia than we are (and given that we have shit like the Patriot Act THAT'S SAYING SOMETHING).

I would be a criminal just for one thing I have in my pocket everyday. Its still hard to believe that /knifecontrol is a thing hahaha.

I would be fucked as well. I frequently end up carrying a box cutter and a nice Kershaw folder with me to and from work. That would mark me as a dangerous criminal in the UK.

This might end up getting me downvotes like the last time I spoke ill of our Muslim "brethren" but if my country suddenly enacted an open door policy to Muslim "immigrants" I would buy a gun asap.

Luckily I live in a freaking island so no chance of that happening :drunk:

Terrorism is only a problem in modern society because we have given it a platform. Today, the second one bullet is fired at a school, you have 70 different news outlets plastering "BREAKING NEWS" banners across every TV screen in the country. These lunatics only do it for attention, which we are all more than eager to give them.

Look at how Margaret Thatcher dealt with the IRA in the 80's. As soon as terrorist activity was downplayed by the media, the number of attacks dropped sharply. There was just no longer any motivation for violence.

Government control comes with population density. Go to Wyoming, you can do whatever the fuck you want since there's literally nobody around to stop you.

I mean it's not that foreign of a concept. Look at all the shit you're already not allowed to have on airplanes. There's even plenty of places I see in America where "knives are prohibited". (I put that in quotes because so far it's never stopped me. Rules are only as good as their enforcement.)

Maybe you got downvotes because your use of quotes comes off like you are generalizing an entire population of different individuals as all being equally sub-human for having one unchangable trait in common. Which is like, the actual definition of bigotry.

That's ironic considering Islam teaches intolerance to everyone who isn't Muslim but to each their own, right? No, Islam is a horrible religion. And I used quotes on immigrants because most Muslim "immigrants" that have entered Europe seem to be young males. They called it an invasion for a reason.

This is getting too serious. I don't come here to preach or educate snowflakes.

I live in a place where there are actually a fair number of Muslims. I work with some, even. I generally prefer to treat each person as an individual and give them a fair shake.

That said, Muslims (in my experiences) have so far proven to range from being somewhat icy and standoffish to outright unpleasant, regardless of skin tone, nationality or any other qualifier. I can think of maybe two (no, wait, three) that were relatively affable and friendly, and one was a recent convert to Islam. I don't wish them ill but I don't really quite trust them. They don't really seem to like people like me.

I'd probably feel significantly better about them if Islam's reformations had been more progressive in nature. Instead the ones who were more forward thinking (the Ahmadiyya) are basically treated as heretics and the hardliner reformations (Salafism and Wahhabism) emerged as the primary force in Islam. Ahmadis are pretty nice but they're also pretty rare here.
