They just took a prank image on the web thinking it's an original set of mascots. It really reminds of the same thing that happened to Obsidian devs, when they took a fake fire alarm sign with the insription "in case of fire steal, kill, fuck geese, wait for the response" for a normal one and put it into the Alpha Protocol trailer.

also: goes to show how much respect there is for copyright as well, newspapers publishing pictures they find on the internet... oh wait, it's in Poland... :roll:
 
I don't think the Alpha Protocol sign is to be taken seriously. It was stated on the forums that it was an easter egg when they launched the first trailers.

Well, they had to say it. I believe that it wasn't intended at first, because that was the very first picture that Google found for the "Fire alarm" in Russian.
Also, this is a very specific Russian internet meme, so if it was an easter egg, it had to be targeted for a very specific audience. And you have to be very familiar with it. Obsidian has shown in the gameplay trailers that they just use lots of cliches about Russia (like WWII propaganda posters on every wall). So I doubt they really target for Russian market, so using the meme as an easter egg is pointless for them.

I wonder if they created the other character based on pedobear. look at the eyes, they are exactly the same.

I think I saw a bit with Pedobear effigy in a Polish kindergarten, but this might have been faked. Or was it Happy Tree Friends?

Pedobear is the rage across Central Europe, for example on Slovak web host site on Children's Day.
