Post-Apocalyptia (Fallout 2 Mod WIP)(NEEDS TO BE MOVED)

Three Dawg

First time out of the vault
Hello everybody, I have been making a Fallout 2 mod and I have the game somewhat planned out, heres my current progress.

Story: 25%
Character Creation: 0%
Intro: 5%
Everything Else: 0%

Hello all, this was going to be a game for Gamemaker but now I am making it as a Fallout 2 Mod. I dont know a thing about modding so i've been visiting tutorials on this site for help. Anyways... about the game

I am thinking about this game taking place in New York, NY, my friends all recommended it too me. I plan on it being very traditional to 50's New York (Mafia Mobs, Fancy Music, Neon Lights ETC.)

I need alot of help for this game, i'm taking suggestions on:

Main Menu
Intro
Plot
Weapons

I also need some Spriters, and someone with Fallout 2 Modding knowledge.

I already have a song for the intro: Good Morning - Judy Garland (Original Version)*LINK*http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0j3-tmQLjg*LINK*If you guys could think of an intro that would kind of match the song it would be great.

The Plot so far: The plot so far (SO FAR!!) is that you were frozen in a cryo-pod that RobCo created as a prototype and depending on what history you choose (Character Creation) you will have a different background but all in all you would have ended up in the pod somehow. I am also planning on adding a new feature too the game (Mutations) since the pod wasn't fully protected you might have been mutated so i added those (Dont worry traits are still here)

PICS:

PICS WILL BE HERE SOON

PLEASE POST SUGGESTIONS

Nice to see more fan games in progress. Good luck.

Thanks! Comon people need suggestions!

Also another update, do you guys think the antagonist of the game should be some kind of mafia? or maybe the enclave?
Post your ideas :) (Or anything else you'd like too suggest or ask)

It depends, where's the game being set?

Read the original post my friend. Post-Apocalyptic New York, NY, atleast for now that is the setting. Glad too see SOMEONE'S interested 8-)

Oh damn I didn't see that, well anyways the Enclave are probably out. Before you come up with an enemy you should probably come up with a goal your character is trying to accomplish or have some kind of macguffin the character's trying to reach. That'll make deciding on an appropriate enemy easier.

Edit: This looks pretty good for a fan game. :ok:

Thanks :) Anyways, correct I should think of a goal for the player before i think of anything else. Choosing your characters history at the beginning has a major impact on the storyline, or what your character is trying too achieve (essentially your "goal") so here is what i thought out, depending what history you choose. (If you feel anything should be different let me know!

Vault Dweller/War Veteran: Unity, Too unite New York City under one flag
Enclave Remnant: Too purify the land of mutants and reestablish the Enclave
RobCo CEO(default history): Characters Choice
City Slicker: Too unite the local raiders and raid New York too destruction

Dont worry guys ill be posting a working game engine soon, and we can exchange finished character pages! (lol)

btw a little insider, choosing a history affects certain skills (as seen from the original posts pics)

??? NO ONE IS INTERESTED IN SUGGESTING ANYTHING ??? (BESIDES COURIER)
I might move this too a different forum site if i dont get replies

This isn't a very big forum so your game probably won't get much attention until more of it is completed such as concepts for factions, locations, etc.

Anyways here's what I think some of the goals could be for the different backgrounds.

Vault Dweller - While out scouting the wastelands for a habitable location for the vault dwellers to move, you accidentally locked yourself into an old RobCo cryo-pod where you remained for several years. Upon returning to the vault you lived in, you find that it is empty and all its inhabitants have gone missing. You set out on a quest to find the missing vault dwellers.

Enclave Remnant - A pre-war Enclave member you intentionally closed yourself into a RobCo cryo-pod for the duration of the war, although you did not awaken for several centuries. Upon emerging you hear news of the Enclave's defeat on both the East and West coast, and only a few survivors remain scattered throughout the wastelands. You begin a quest to find any surviving members in the surrounding wastelands and to form a new Enclave.

RobCo employee - You were one of the employees granted permission to use the RobCo cryo-pods before the war, and upon awakening you find that the world has been transformed into a wasteland. You find a mysterious holotape telling you a way you can restore power to the city and activate an army of robots, effectively giving you control of the city. The holotape does not appear to be of RobCo origins.

City Slicker - You were a survivor of the war that destroyed New York, but not long after the bombs fell you stumbled across an abandoned RobCo cryo-pod which you accidentally locked yourself in. You are woken up by a low-level criminal centuries later who then proceeds to take you to meet his boss. After a few quests you'll get caught up in the criminal underworld of the New York wastelands, and you can choose to either help one of the many crime families take control of the city, or you can unite the families and take control of the city yourself.

Just my idea of how the backgrounds could work. The first two Fallout's especially just had vague end goals that you start off trying to reach, and it doesn't really give you any idea how to accomplish them, so that's what you should be aiming for here.

Edit: While each background could have their own motives and quests, it's still probably a good idea to have one main story arc that all backgrounds will be involved in. I think it would be pretty cool if each character from each background somehow tied into the main plot and the characters from the backgrounds you didn't pick all end up being sort of antagonists in the story. That way you could play the game from different points of view and see how it all affects the main story.

Edit: Instead of using gamemaker I think you might be able to use Fallout 2's engine and make a much more complex game. You'll probably want to ask one of the modders here though to see how that works though.

Thanks for your contribution Courier, yes you make a point this isn't a very large forum, a good idea would be maybe too move it too the Bethesda Forums? Just a thought. Anyways I like your ideas, I just might edit the game for the soul purpose too add those in, haha thats great. Right now im working on an intro for the game, it will be in 3D possibly using GECK and will feature the song: Good Morning - Judy Garland. Again i might move this too a different site... say.... Courier could you possibly give me your email (Or another means too contact you) and maybe you could help me out with the game? you seem very intrested in the game, i could put you in the credits... interested?
