Ok, here's my second attepmt at getting a survey going. ;) What are some favorite post-nuclear holocaustic books out there? One of mine would have to be Alas, Babylon by Pat Frank. It's very similar to the Fallout Universe, minus a lot of the blasted landscape. Also, On the Beach is a very good book about the same subject, but very tragic. I can't remember who the author is, though. Well, let's get some posts going, ok?

The author of On The Beach is Nevil Shute. My favorite post-apocolyptic book would have to be A Canticle For Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Jr. It's got the blasted landscape, it's tragic, and an excellent read. I once played through a game of FO1 while listening to the book on tape, and it was quite an experience.

the crysalids by john wyndham is post nuclear..... im not saying its good but its kinda lame cuz the radiation gives them telepathic powers... but anyways some of its good... but the plot is lame, as is the telepathy

but he has a good handle on how the world was devestated and which spots are effected the most and least and such

but anyways dont wanna ruin the book AND guess what...

it takes place in CANADA =]

Hiroshima, by John Hersey, is another good book about nuclear war, although it's not about a post-nuclear holocaustic world. It has some really good accounts of what it was like to be there, though. And Pretender, thanks for telling us about Leibowitz. I'm going to try and track it down at my library. :)

Leibowitz is a classic, I used it and several other works in my thesis, which was on the apocalypse in popular culture.
