Post-war England

More than likely, the V-Bombers and Trident would have been deployed against the Soviet Union, causing a full on Soviet response. London, Portsmouth and many other British cities of strategic interest are destroyed within thirty minutes of the Soviet launch, however the Royal Family, the Prime Minister and the Cabinet are evacuated to their respective hardened locations, while Vera Lynn's: "There Will Always Be An England" plays over the BBC's Emergency Broadcasting Service.

I always thought that Vera Lynn's "We'll Meet Again" would be a better fit, seeing as it appeared in Salad Fingers, a post-apocalyptic online flash cartoon. Great stuff.

As a side note, I'm going to take this opportunity to list the status of the various nations of Europe and how that may correlate and hint at the status of the UK.

The European Civil War seems to be heavily inspired by World War I, with trench warfare and shelling everywhere. War weary citizens of the European Commonwealth faced a dwindling economy and resource riots similar to those that would later be seen in the US. The European Commonwealth-Middle East War was supposedly a huge blow to morale and nationalism (continentism?). It has been mentioned that there was limited nuclear exchange in the middle east, so they might have faced problems with the fallout of that.

All of Europe's nations went to war with each other over the last remaining resources on Earth, but it seems that the continent just fell apart anyways. By 2077, it is likely that anything resembling society or 'nations' in Europe just didn't exist anymore. Mad Max, essentially.

According to the hypothetical Fallout: Resource Wars game, northern Italy was reduced to total anarchy. The once idyllic French countryside was turned into a mess of trench warfare and was bleached by the massive amounts of chemical weapons deployed.

England isn't on the European mainland, so does this mean that it may have fared better? Who knows.
