Postnuclear Dungeon Master

Lich

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
Its my cool idea to Fallouthy 3D game, based upon DM clone called Dungeon Director
Site of that project is here: http://www.dungeondirector.com/
Also visit Dungeon Master Encyclopedia

Im not sure what this look finally, already i made new interface.
Probably Dungeon Master Java is more easy for modifications but i like this DD "Square based movement with smooth 3D transition"

Anyway look this screen, its DD with my interface: Picture

I looking for any support to that project (also DM fans)

Sorry Lich, but shouldn't you finish BlackSteel before starting another project?

I second that opinion. I don't know how many projects you had origanally planned but you should try to keep focussed on 1 project IMHO

I can handle two or three projects at once

Anyway i stop working on that DM Clone, because its far away from good RPG in future. I found something much better, and similar. This will be also 3D postnuclear game but on engine.. System Schock 2

I found that this game can be modded, so i must try this way.

Some usefull links:
5 mods to System Schock 2
SHOCKED (SS2editor)
If you dont have this game, it can be download from: Filecity

If you dont have this game, you should maybe search google for it.]
Lich don't get me wrong but I think this kind of work style won't let your anywhere :(

You announced the work on the dungeon master clone yesterday and cancel it today. You can handle 2-3 projects and haven't even finished BlackSteel and maybe you don't even have a final concept for it.

And please think about the system shock links. Maybe you should give the newbies a clue how to search for it but direct links aren't a generally good idea. Remember that SS2 is from 1999 and abandonware sites offering it now doesn't make it legal. Fallout is from 1997, Fallout II from 1998 and both can't be legally downloaded yet. Abandonware is warez but maybe its not hunted down like warez so you should do nma a favour and edit the links.

This is no offence but an advice: please ask yourself what you really want to achieve. This is the most important step before you should think about starting anything. If you're sure what to do, think about what software platform can you help to do it. Do you want to create a Fallout-like SS2 mod, or just a SS2 mod? You need to inform the people about your ideas, otherwhise nobody will help you with anything, because there are just 1000 of projects out there that are wasted time.

You need to convince them that your project is something special and something that gets finished. There are a bunch of talented people out there but nobody wants to invest all his / her time for a project that dies another day.

Think about what you want to achieve. Think about the needed software platform / engine. Create a homepage for it and write about your ideas. Get a irc channel or use icq for instant communication. Post @ various developer / related game sites and try to build up a team that can help you with the project. Advertizement is quite the most important part in the starting phase of a project. After you found enough members, it will surely be easier to finish it as you don't have to do everything on your own and motivation with some people working on it besides you is surely better.

I seriously doubt anyone can handle 2 or 3 projects at once, whatever those projects are.
That's what my projectmanagement tutor has been telling me for two weeks now.
Easy does it. Follow the steps necessary to be successfull at your project: first of all, ask yourself what it is you want as a finished product? You can't start without knowing that. Sure, things will change once you're working on the project, but nevertheless you need to know what it is you want to achieve.
Follow mvBarracuda's advice, Lich. First, try to finish BlackSteel. Then, once that project's done, you can start a new one.
I'd rather see BlackSteel develop into something worthwhile, than seeing bits and pieces of 3 or 4 different projects which will never be completed.

Abandonware is not warez, but i deleted link if you see any troubles.

Making DM clone was real stupid because this must change all game into something similar like Fallout, so i stop this project. But System Schock 2 got many connections and can be made as Fallout 3D game. Alredy i check the mods to SS2 available and i see great potential. My idea is to made 3D Vault13.

Connections betwen F1/F2 and SS2
both games got:
-something like Pip-Boy
-skills: repair, modify, research
-stats: agility, strengh, endurance
-shoot weapons, stimpacks

Potential of SS2 is very high, maybe i made Black Steel as typical F2 mod and 3D version on SS2 engine? I like olways learn something new.
