Problem with Fallout on Imac

call me poptart

First time out of the vault
I recently tried installing the mac version of the original Fallout game on my imac (Mac OS X version 10.2) and it installed just fine. But when I actually tried to play, the cursor was maddenlingly sluggish, on the main menu and during gameplay. I did try increasing the mouse speed during game play but that seemed to do absolutely nothing. Does anyone have any helpful suggestions I might follow?

Here is probably the best course of action you can take:

Sell your imac to a sucka, and then buy a pc. Get the PC version of Fallout and Fallout 2, and Tactics while you're at it, and install them. Immense amounts of joy will ensue. Victory will be yours!

uhm, thanks, but that doesn't really help me that much :| so uhm. Is there anything, besides selling the imac, that I can do? Maybe there are some mac users that go here? I'd really like to play. grr.

HHMMMmmm.... having worked with Macs in the past, I can remember something about an extension or something that, when enabled, doubled the cursor speed up to PC-like ranges. I'm not sure it would help in the game, or where you get it, or what it's called, or anything. Gaming on a Mac is usually very, very frustrating since just about everything on the m has been ported over from something else...

So the gameplay sucks....
:(
I tried going to interplay.com but the site doesnt work.

Hi!

Stop that crap!
I use a Mac too, and it works like a charm!
Even (almost) all of the Mods work for it!

Now tell me, you smart guys:
I ALSO have the PC-Version of FO 1+2
(cause they they were real cheap and I needed them for these PC-Tools...)
...but I do NOT get them to work correctly most of the time - well I use W98.! - Where is this fun, you promised ?

When I start FO2, I mostly get back to Desktop - much fun indeed!
Sometime It starts - hooray!
But then it crashes randomly(?) most of the time in Klamath Canyon - so I cannot goi there - again much fun!

So I MUST change all Mods to Mac-Mods to even be able to use them...

The Original(!) mapper can only be closed via "ctrl-alt-delete" or I have to reset the complete PC! Yet more fun!

If That is the joy, you meant, I dont need it and I dont want it - sorry!

But perhaps someone among you is so kind and explains me, what I am doing wrong - but dont tell me, I need xp !

You are right, when you say, that there is much more stuff for PC and it is even much earlier to get.

But that, that is available for Mac WORKS (at least for me)
Most of the PC-Stuff I (want or need to) use, had to be installed by a friend of mine who is a PC-Freak!

No, Thats NO fun!

@poptart
Sorry, I cannot help you there, because it works fine for me.
But here are some tips:

First of all: INSTALL the Patch 1.02 !!!
You may download it from Macsoft - I think

What Imac do you own? It should be a bit more than a G3....
Perhaps your Imac really is just too slow - sorry.

Otherwise you can use another mouse(-driver)
I use a logitech mouse and it works fine.

Hope it helps a bit!
Look out for my JonaMod, after you have beaten the Game!

Greetings

lol why are all those pc users so aggressive when it comes to mac? some kind of complex you think?

On the other hand i agree with them: dissolving your mac in acid or smashing it would obviously make it work like a pc.

:seriouslyno:

Sell your girly pink imac to some turd, I assume that's how you got it in the first place. Then when you can get some money from your paper route, buy a 'grown ups' computer.

Still don't believe me. Check these out.

*NOT A JOKE* This one is the actual mac switch commercial.

It almost makes me lose hope in the future of humanity.

Hello!

I am NOT saying, that the Mac is better (cause it isnt!)
But in contrary to any PC I am able to USE it!
I would love to use a PC, if I only could !!!!

My biggest problem with PCs are:

1. I do not get any help (in forums and such) ;-(((
(Still no one told me, why FO2 wont work.....)
2. Where to get all these "missing" files, Windows asks for -
often I dont even know which ones are missing....
3. I need to be an expert to install programs and such....
If there werent this friend of mine, I would have to(!) trash my PC a long time ago!

What use is it that they are so "superior" computers, if you( I? ) just cannot use (game with) them ?

The only advantage for Mac(versions) is, that they simply work!
And if (in very rare cases) something wont work, I can fix it myself(!)

So stop bashing us Mac-Users only because we are too dumb to use these "great" PCs....
Please be a bit more tolerant, because I admire those who CAN use the (Windows-)PCs !

just re-dowloaded the old demo and indeed it's really slow. Did you try booting under os9? Fallout wasn't originally made for os x.

oh and any ways, my windows XP crashed, it has a virus(wich macs can't get). So i cant play fallout anymore.
