Fallout license or not, Chris Taylor noted on the Interplay forums that V13 is still in production.
We are still working on V13. The project is moving forward. We've hired more people recently. I wish I could tell you what Masthead has shown us, but I'm not allowed. Bummer, it's really cool.

I cannot comment on anything to do with anything. Almost literally. ^_^
Thanks ralexand and FalloutNow!

What ? so V13, assuming fallout license is gone, is going to be "generic" post-apoc MMO ?
Oookay.
I doubt ill buy it if it is generic MMO fair, you know, GRIND and even more gear GRIND . And fetch/kill that quests only.
If it is innovative MMO, not the buzz word "innovative", i MIGHT buy it. Assuming i get to try it first in a trial mode. And i like it.

I am not the biggest fan of MMOs though.

He said nothing about generic MMO or that the license is gone.

Interplay is still trying to dispute Bethesda's claims. The case will probably end up with a court decision or a settlement.

Well, bethesda is "trying" to get the license back, as Interplay failed to meet the requirements.

And i was referring to the "generic" post-apoc at first.
And i really feel that i am allowed to have my "pessimistic" view that most MMOs are not really that different.
I dislike most MMOS because of the GRIND. i havent found a one i like.
if this one is different, i will give it a shot.

Same here, I've played the free week that most games offer and never ended up buying a month because In a week I feel like I'm done killing different colored versions of the same monster again and again.

Heck, I'm a huge superhero fan and even City of Heroes (which is quite excellent and creative) had me bored, although some instances I did with superhero teams was cool.

I might do a fallout one but only if it is really good... I would kind of prefer something like Stalker though where it is a pure FPS and the land is composed by linked multiplayer maps. I'm surprised nobody has made an MMO like that... just hundreds of linked multiplayer maps with cities where the NPCS will rip you to shreds if you pull a gun.

Or imagine turn based MMO... when you get into a fight it goes turn based and everyone in a certain radius gets sucked in. If you want to participate you must enter that sphere where people are taking turns shooting at each other or flee beyond the borders of the battle to go back into free movement. And if you do it like CIV 4 where everyone takes their turns at the same time, well that would be crazy and fun.

Well, I never said that you are not allowed to have your "pessimistic" view of MMOs. I just made clear that Chris didn't gave out any info that can tell us that we will get again some more generic MMO. And as long as we don't have any more infos about the game, there is really no reason to call it generic. Also because I can't remember that Interplay made a MMO ever before. As soon as we see the first screens and get the first real info, we can start to say that it sucks or not.

Thanks ralexand.

Oh wow, you are welcome. =)

We even don't know if Interplay really has failed to meet the requirements ...

edit: And say Thanks to the German Falloutnow Community too, therefrom I got the News. (Lexx)

No, but it is fair to assume they have. We went over this when they signed Masthead, though, there is some leeway in how far they have to prove to Bethesda that they actually have the money, but that's probably what the conflict is about.

We'll see.

Sounds like Interplay is pretending not to be dead...again...and I can't figure why but it works somehow.

However, if the licence has been ditched, I have no interest in that game whatsoever...

Looks like Interplay is following the idea to "keep moving forward".

They watched Rocky Balboa and Meet the Robinsons too many times.

I don't understand why a small outfit would ever want to tackle an MMO, which is an extremely difficult proposition even for the big boys of the games industry. For most developers an MMO is one thing; a money pit.

so would rather them sit around sucking they're thumbs while waiting for the verdict?

Did I say it's a bad thing?

The world, unfortunately, forces people to forget about things we love or would love to create. IMO we should always fight untill we get what we want or die trying, but sometimes we should lay it off and do something else- which might turn out to be something better.

Patton89: Actually Interplay hasn't failed its requirements. We had this discussion in an older news thread with Bn and a few other people.
At the time Interplay merged/went into 50/50 partnership with Earthrise it had the Fallout MMO licence which is worth 30M or so.
This means Interplay is/was worth 30M plus its assets. So by merging it had the cash on paper.
The fact that ER. is not an US company will mean getting/requesting some hard data from them and after the trial stars. If Interplay plays hard they can tie up the licence for some years and ironically they might even win if ER doesn't tank too badly.
Delaying tactics, law loopholes and all the friendly neighbour 12 gauge. I'm not sure weather to cheer or curse...

Even if they claim they dont need to have hard, real numbers, it isnt going to hold for long.
because i doubt Interplay has money for long court trials, and even if they did, i doubt even more they could win.

Well, if american laws arent absolutely idiotic. Because then everyone would use this case as a proof in future cases that you dont need to have actual numbers, just a signed contract does, to avoid failing funding deadlines.

EDIT:
Even if it goes by international laws, i seriously doubt that theyll accept Interplays excuses, unless they can prove they have 30 million in some form, spanish gold coins, stocks, socks, art, anything would do.

Who knows what herve can do ? The guy is a worm.
But 30 million is rather large amount of money to come up in global recession.

And dont even get me started on US laws. There are states where atheists couldnt get certain jobs until 1961 high-court decision.
The lines are still written in the state constitusions in some cases BTW.

Well too bad this will go into international laws as ER is not American.
It is an unholy legal tangle. On one hand, it can be argued that Bethesda's demands on Ip infilates the Interplay's value so to enter a 50/50 partnership ER team needs to come up with that much cash/assets/whatnot
On the other hand do not forget that despite all his inept leadership, Herve is a very skilled legal dancer who has managed to funnel a lot of other assets from nowhere into his company.
Ah and we are talking about a legal system that requires you to put a "warning: how liquid. can burn if spilled" warning on coffee cups or slaps you with a nice fine. What you and I can see means nothing if its ok by law.
