I'm using the "Fixes only (purist)" version of Fixt for Fallout 1
1. I was fighting a deathclaw earlier today. I have the better criticals perk unlocked which moves me a tier higher on the critical hit table. The critical hit table for the deathclaw I'm referring to is here. This is an in-game screenshot for reference. Why have I scored a critical hit that lies on the first row of the eyes section on the deathclaw table when the better criticals perk is supposed to ensure that I'm always on row 2 or better by adding a 20 to the critical effect dice roll?
2. My second question relates to this encounter with the mother deathclaw. I seem to be on the second row of the crit table but isn't a damage of 9 way too low? The damage range for a combat shotgun is 15-25. The ammo neither modifies damage, nor DR or DT. The mother deathclaw has a DT of 8 and a DR of 40%. Taking the worst case scenario, if I roll a damage of 15, this gets multiplied by the critical damage modifier of x2. Now the DT of 8 is subtracted followed by DR of 40%. The resultant number is 13.2 (rounded down to 13). How have I hit her for just 9 damage?
