Question about Rank and Charisma

Does having a higher charisma make you gain ranks faster? My character is level 15 now, has 2 charisma, and is on around mission 18 or so and I just got power armour. I'm wondering if higher charisma will let me get ranks faster, therby getting power armour sooner (need to be a junior paladin to get it)

Also, how does reputation affect the game? Thanks.

BTW. FOT is a kickass game.. the combat is more fun than any action or strategy game I have played yet, the strategy is awesome and it keeps me up playing for hours. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, because despite people's complaints, it is a fun game beneath it all.
 
having played a couple characters, here's what I have gleaned about rank.

Charisma does not affect rank except in one maner, if you have a 5 cha (and 6 int) you can take brown noser perk which raises your rank. I'm thinking this would be a very good idea to take one or two of making a 5 cha very valuable just for this perk.

I think you mainly gain rank by completing missions, as my 5 cha (no brown noser) and my 2 cha characters got the same rank by mission 9...

Reputation affects Rank. I'm not exactly sure how at this point, but recently I was a rank 5 (junior knight) and rep of defender (1 better than start of warrior). I went on a citizen hunting spree (for shotgun ammo, 9mm ap ammo and shotguns to sell and not bad xp either getting 25-33 ea.) I dug an unused recruit out and had them do all the killing, apperantly whatever any of your recruits do, affects your rep, because after an hour I was scourge of the wastes, and a few more a demon spawn. I went back to base and when I went to the recruiter I was dropped down to rank 3 (squire). Fortunately I had a previous save game before my rampage. (however I killed a few at the very begginning of the game to get combat shotguns, so my rep is probably slightly affected) So I recommend not killing anyone in the BoS ever...
 
Thanks.. I did notice one thing about Cha though.. with my old character who had 2 Cha, I only was offered 1 suit of MK2 leather armour after mission 3. With my new Cha 6 character, I was offered 2 suits of that armour.. so maybe higher cha affects how much gear you can buy?

Also, i chose brown noser but my rank didn;t go up.. what's up with that?
 
Ranks mainly influence the warriors you can recruit. Whatever rank you are (i'm junior paladin i think), thats the highest level recruits you can get. In other words, the more badass your main char is, the more badass your squad can be.

the other thing is i think your reputation only affects your rank if its extremely good or bad. cuase i was betrayer (one below warrior) and i had a higher rank than my friend who was just plain warrior.
 
I am level 12 and a junior paladin. I took the brown noser perk once and have 8 charisma. I also completed every mission with the best possible debriefing mission (no tribals killed in peroia, few ghouls killed in the KC etc. etc. ) I already have an environmental armor MK 2 and 2 suits of MK 1.
 
You will gain rank faster with high charisma, after 3-4 missions with a ch 2 guy I had one rank less than with a ch 4 guy.
Also, if you start with cha 10, you will start with 2nd rank from start.

Charisma DO AFFECT RANK !

I played a char with 2 charisma, and after mission 2 I'm still an INITIATE !!
compare to my old charisma6 guy, who made rank 4 after mission 2.. it's very obvious !!
