Where'd That 6th Toe Come From?
I've almost completed the work on the new damage "engine". Ignoring the foresighted issues as they will -eventually- get fixed, I've a question to you on how to release the mod.


1) Should I take into consideration other modders & their works, and release just the core components necessary to operate the damage 'engine' so other modders can make use of them? This would be as a Modder's Resource package, and contain everything needed except the actual application for all the weapons & armors. Or...

2) Release a working mod that contains the components necessary to operate the damage 'engine' in addition to setting up the weapons & armors, as well as an ammo-swapper for firearms, and modified loot lists & store lists. For other modders, making use of the damage 'engine' with this release would be very difficult and time consuming.

Is it possible/easy to release a working mod AND a resource package alongside it?
 
Well okay then, I say release it as part of the compendium. I've been wary of anyone else's mods to gameplay anyway because of how they might conflict with the rest of yours.
 
The way I see it... If other modders base their works off yours it's more power to you. When I worked with the HL2 SMOD: Tactical team, our we gave props to the makers of SMOD. Making the mod stand-alone will cut us from other modders expanding upon using us as a base.

I say aim for #1.
