I've for some time now wanted a companion mod that basically turns Skynet into one of the Sentry Bots. I'm not good enough to pull the Skynet quest from the MegaMod, but I can edit critter files a bit.

I'm running the latest version of the Restoration Project Patch, and Phobos' Economy Mod.

So, I'm using Cubik's Critter editor to change Skynet into a sentry bot. All I did was utilize the standard Sentry Bot proto file (0000077.pro), and create it for each of Skynet's stages (1-5 for each "level" he gains). I basically just renamed five Sentry Bot proto files to match Skynet's (0000349-353 from what I can tell), and drop those "new" files into my data/proto/critters folder for the main game (I edit files separately just in case I screw up).

Problem is, it doesn't do anything. Skynet, once I got to the Depot, was the same, even once he was in my party. I went back and checked to make sure the new proto files were not overwritten, and they were not.

So, is there something simple I am missing? Are the proto files different for the RP? Should I level skynet up and see if he changes appearance?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks.

It seems you didn't edit its base proto (00000079.pro). Be sure to insert the edited base proto in master.dat, otherwise the leveling won't work correctly.

I already made an RP mod for this which you can find here.
Instead of messing with protos, I let Skynet's script do the changes for you. That way you can choose what body you want him to have from game to game without having to reinstall anything.

Damn. How did I miss that?

Thank you, this is awesome and much better than what I could do. I'll give it a run this weekend. I'm hoping I have the latest version of sfall, though.

    Thanks!
