Anyone played this game? I tested the open Beta on Steam a bit and while it sounds and looks interesting I cant say that I ve been that impressed. But I only judge this game on the Beta though. Maybe the full game will be better. I have read the full game will feature naval units as well as the Beta offers at the moment tanks, infantry, planes and the needed structures to build those units.

At the same time the game feels very simple from its handling as it was also designed for the console but in its tactical gameplay it is somewhat also very complex. You dont have many buttons or visible options but thx to a lot of fake units like dummy positions and tactics to hide your own units in some area or like a option to disguise a light unit as heavy and a heavy unit as light you get a wide range of tactical decisions for combat you can even use the option of fake offensives. So here it definetly has many interesting concepts. But even when the access to the game is easy I personaly found the menue not that intuitive or informative like in Men of war for example which also offers a lot of tactical gameplay.

I think that it seems not to have the same kind of depth like Hearts of Iron or Totall War though which goes in a somewhat similar direction as Ruse but its missing any kind of diplomacy or real development of units and a more realistic use and deploy of resources so Ruse is just streamlined for combat and nothing else (at least the Beta) of course to be fair the timeline the game shows only from 1942-45 its questionable how much or in which way diplomacy should play a role. The game itself contains only 1 resource which you when you bild a depot can be delivered to your base with trucks which only works when you have conected the base and depot with streets you have options here to build another base closer to the depot and thus decrease the distance between the depot. In other words the depots work simple gold mines. The more you have the more resources you get, the more resources the more units and structures you can build etc. So Ruse is in my eyes more aiming for a faster combat in the end compared to HoI and is also more similar to Men of War in its speed. It looks like a try between Men of War and HoI in my eyes but if you ask me it lacks both great advantages of those games the depth of HoI and somewhat realistic representation of Men of War.

I think its a nice game to try it. But it definetly didnt catched my interest really. Of course thats my personal oppinion. Since its still a open Beta on steam everyone should go and try it. As long its still for free ... as thx to EA now who knows how long we will get free demos :P

its neat, but the full version of the game will have that shitty Ubisoft DRM, so I won't even touch it.

Is it that online requirement to play single player one that Assassin's Creed 2 has?

What a great way to continue hurting your legitimate customers, while not really slowing down pirates at all, good job Ubisoft.
