PyroPhoenix

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Ok guys this is the official starter for the new Tribal Rp

So far we are going strong

As for the tech issues I have decided that We will have stun powder balls (when I was about 7 I used to make them and throw them at my friends when we played war games.) on one of the characters

The exploding bugs idea seems okay, but I would still really prefer something less extravegent (gay) than them. How about animal fat Kerosine for our flammable substance. Even the primitive Eskimo have made that stuff for centuries.

I say that we CAN have leather, but only for boots and such, seeing as people have known how to make leather for centuries. Even the primitive Native American tribes made leather. But as a rule Their may only be one suit of leather armor and it will belong to the fighter, and it will be a very primitive suit not the ones you see in fallout that are shaped and polished. As the fighter I'd also rather see a suit of bone or carved wooden armor, and have the leather suit be more of a dress uniform than battle wear.

As for characters so far we have Kahgan as the shaman.

Thief, warrior, archer, monk and any class of your own thinking (maybe a combo or a completely new one)

All we need now IS

Tribe's name

Tribe's origin

Tribe's religions/ freaky spiritual beliefs

Tribe's base or whether they should be nomadic

Tribe's size

Tribe's resources, animals used to feed them. (I'm thinking RadScorps.)

Tribe's Customs

All of these will be needed and shouldn't take us more than a few days to choose on. Please post your sugestions, and call your characters. Let's get this show on the road folks.

Sweet as.

I would like to be the archer, but one based more on throwing than bows and arrows/crossbows (cos that just sounds gay in the fallout world)

As for the tribe, im thinking that it would be pretty cool if it was nomadic, because it would mean comstantly moving to new areas and not having the same people come after us time and time again.

I like the idea of the animal fat, but then comes the issue of lighting the fat to throw, its not like were all going to have a zippo. Also, if we were to be based on rad scorpions i dont think the idea of the animal fat would fit in, i dont even think radscorpions *have* fat.

The idea of the various types of primative armor is pretty cool, but think on this, how rare is scrap metal around the wasteland? There is bucket loads where ever you look, im thinking if wouldnt be that hard to bash a few pieces into some crude form of protection.

I think all the information concerning the tribe should be dealt with in a group session, so we all have a say.

But ill just say that some possible freaky spiritual beliefs could be that they can get the courage of the fallen by eating their hearts (for a rather pyscopathic tribe). Or another odd trait could be that they have to scar themselves in shame every time they loose a fight. I dunno, im just pulling these out of nowhere, ill have more later.

Er... After raiding atleast one caravan, you'd have guns. I don't think it would work just like that. Also, other items like proper knives, armour and explosives would be found after a few caravans. Keeping them completely primitive wouldn't work.

thats true, but the tribe might have some code wherein they dont use any weapon that they havent made themselves, i dunno, but there are ways around that.

Another thing kve been thinking of is what if the tribe is based around geckos? I mean there arnt exacly herds of geckos around so the tribe would have to hunt them, allowing them to be nomadic. Also they provide leather, fat , bone and meat, pretty much all the things the tribe needs. If they are able to survive an encounter with them, the characters might even be able to get some of the fluid that the fire geckos use to breath flame.

Geckos.....is there anything then*cant* do ?

Fithero good point

As of now our food source and livestock animal is the mighty GECKO.

We will be getting our poision from Radscorps.

As for customs one will be only using things that our characters make themselves or recieve as gifts. Taking from the dead or using non blessed self made items is scorned apon and punishable by up to 50 lashes.

Also it is pretty surefire that they are nomadic as Fithero suggested.

As for an origin I am thinking that they used to be boy scouts so they made an old scout manual their bible, and became super self sufficient. Pulp comics supplied them with their odd beliefs (which we haven't decided yet).

The tribe started when they were all about 8 years old in a catholic school when the war broke out. As the children cowered behind the high walls in the courtyard the teachers took shelter in the building which collapsed under the blast. Left alone they learned how to live by the laws of a school yard where you take what you want by force and where an odd hierarchy rules against logic. Any disobeyers to the teachings were beaten to death or submission. Eventually at the age of 13 or so they became nomads and began wandering in a tribe of roughly 50 people who had become hardened by surviving where most wouldn't.

Now at the age of 18 they have gone to raiding caravans for their food and water, but also in search of a home with rich resources with which to call their own. They found their town in an odd city that sprang from a vault, and set up similarly to vault city.

For the past weeks the tribe has been fighting a fierce guerrila war with high casualties to the well armed enemies despite the poor equipment of the tribals.

Realizing that the city was getting it's lifeblood from caravans that are helping the stabilizing economy of the new city, they have decided to strike at the supplie lines, taking only food, water, and the occasional trinkets or material to craft new items from, they burn the rest to the ground.

Eventually the city will run out of supplies, and as such patrols have been sent to destroy the primitive attackers.

This sets our mission of conquest and our backround.

ANY ObJECTIONS?

i have just one. Im thinking it would be better if the game was set a while after the war, not just a couple of years. Possibly a few generations even, it would allow information and the origional traditions to be distorted somewhat, as each generations changes them a little, forgets them or just makes up totally new ones.

Thats about it.

"As for customs one will be only using things that our characters make themselves or recieve as gifts. Taking from the dead or using non blessed self made items is scorned apon and punishable by up to 50 lashes. "

"Left alone they learned how to live by the laws of a school yard where you take what you want by force and where an odd hierarchy rules against logic. Any disobeyers to the teachings were beaten to death or submission"

So they can take stuff off eachother, just not off other people?

Specialist, i realise you can pick a mistake from a mile away, but its kind of annoying when its all you do. Try adding to the subject every once in a while.

Now, to keep the characters using primative weapons, how about the tribe has been hired by some group who takes all the items we gain from the caravans. Now there is the problem of why were helping them, its possible they could be holding the rest of the tribe hostage, to force us to do their dirty work.

Or it could be one guy, pretending to be a figure of power from the tribes religon, getting us to raid, and give all the spoils to him/her.

I dunno, just a thought really.

Fithero, it's called improvement. You find mistakes/things that are lacking, and you correct them to make it better.

The caravans could be a territorial thing, but with the whole tribe being nomads it wouldn't work.

An alternative to this is to make it that a rival city is giving the tribe food (yes, the tribesman are being cheated) and water in return for ambushing caravans.

Sorry spec, not attacking you, just havin a shitty day.

Anyway, im still thinking that it should be a long time after the war, not long enough for the world to be re-established. Im thinking probably between f1-f2, think the tribe in the preoria level of tactics, they have been there for ages, and in my opinion, are a pretty cool basis for a tribe.

Another possible creature for the tribe to base itself on is the death claw, but im thinking thats a big of a long shot. It has all the stuff geckos have, except the chances of taking one down with a rock and spear arnt that great. Just a thought though.

I already have a tribe pretty much made here for a p&p game that i got going, it was going to be a npc tribe, but im thinking it might work here. I can post it later if you want.

yeah, I agree with Fithero on the time frame.

About religon and stuff, I have a crazy idea we could have the geckos as prime resource(food, clothing, etc.), the rad scorpions as poison resource, and the Deathclaw would be the all mighty god that we give the dead ones from the raids to  ...only problem there is the nomad thing...hm...

or maybe the deathclaws could be like the symbol of the bad guys in the religon, then killing a deathclaw would be the hugest thing of the world...

also, guns could be something evil that should not even be tuched, the tribe could be a "cleanser" cleanses out all high-tech vermin...

just my two cents...ooo, I'm looking forward to make the shaman, any name sugestions?

hakuna.....matata?

I like the idea of give the animals places in the religon, such as-

Gecko-Provider (Gives everything needed to the tribe, so they worship it)

RadScorpion-Warrior spirit (Small, but full of weapons and a nasty attitude, it would make sense to worship these as warrior spirits)

DeathClaw-The Devil (Yeah these things are alot tougher/stronger than radscorpions, but they are also alot rarer. The tribe might have seen one rip through its ranks in the beginning and had a fear/hatred of them ever since.)

Rat-Plague Bearer (Perhaps a while back the rats carried a plague that decemated the tribe, so now all rats are killed on sight and never eaten.)

Wolf-Scavanger (The Wolf wount be a bad idea to base the tribe on. Since they wolf is a scavanger and hunts in a pack, it would make sense to base the tribe on it, or atleast out group.)

Mantis/other bugs-I have no bloody idea!

Brahmin-The holy vessel (Perhaps the tribe believes the souls of the dead are housed in the bodies of the Brahmin. So they paint them up and treat them really well...or something. Would you want to kill (or even milk for that matter) a brahmin that a tribe of warriors considers to hold the spirits of all its dead?)

Of course i pulled all of that out of my butt, i could come up with something a litte better at a more suitable time of day.

Ok I have taken into consideration your ideas.

I say that we are still nomadic seeing as gecko would be in small pockets and have to be found. The tribe numbers around 50 so it isn't really a city or camp. I stick with my original motivation for raiding seeing as how they are an anti tech tribe no one could really give them anything as payment for bidding.

60 years and roughly 3 generations have passed since the original school children and now a code of honor has evolved from the school yard idealistics, and things can be taken but only if you can win out against the opponent in a contest of their choice. Also the honor states that guns are dishonest and it is an unspoken rule not to use them. Though one of the more radical fighters 30 years ago was known to use bullets in his sling that he took out of their shells he never really used a gun and seeing as they were as plentiful as pebbles, he viewed them as a natural resource.

The nomad thing will work in a way thta they set up camp for 2 weeks or 3 and hunt in the area until the gecko's begin to run a little dry then leave. Otherwise they would never encounter enough food and the deathclaws would be all dead in any given region.

I agree with all the animal totems posted except for the mantis which will represent patience and wisdom, and the brahmin which this tribe doesn't know how to raise and there fore does not really even bother with them.

So far I believe
Kahgan- shaman
Alby- monk
Specialist had archer right?

He will quite happily charge anybody with his bare fists after he has hurled as many rocks at them as possible. He is a little slow, and not much in the ways of conversation but he is a loyal member of the tribe.

Background: Quin was killed at the age of ten, thats what the tribe elders tell him anyway. He was out hunting one day when he was accidently shot in the head by a caravan guard. When his tribe found him, they thought him dead and began to prepare for the funeral where they would burn the corpse.

The chanting of the tribe awoke Quin as he lay on the bundle of burning wood. He didnt realise he was being burned alive and he got up off the bundle of wood. He didnt feel right, he couldnt feel his fingers, and if felt as if his mind wasnt all there.

When he jumped down, the tribe all looked at him in amazement as this young boy who once presumed dead was alive and covered in flame. The elders quickly put out the flame and set about healing his wounds.

After a few days it was announced that like the Phoenix in the old stories, Quin had died and had been remborn from flame. They told the tribe that Quin was indeed dead, and that Fenix-Child had taken his place.

Indeed the old quin was gone, his brain had been damaged to the extent that he had no memories of the time leading up until his awaking. Fenix-Child was also alot more agressive than Quin, willingly allowing himself to be hurt while being able to ignore the pain of his wounds.

*...* is a man of great honor, he always walk around with a raised head, he would rather die than loose his honor. He talks slowly with a smooth deep, sometimes foggy voice. Things he say may sometimes hav differant meanings and he sees it as up to the person he talks to to figure out what he means. He means that if the person listened, he would understand. He was raised to be a shaman from the moment he popped out of his mother, he has been tought that he is in touch with the gods, and sometimes it may seem so too. Allthough quite old, he is surprisingly in good shape, it takes a lot to get him into a fight, but if he does fight, he fights like few else. But in major, he has powers in healing, he is a good first aider as well as a good doctor.

Physical aperance:
He has a simple vest made of gecko-skin with several hided pockets in. He also carries a gecko-skin bag in wich he has all his healing powders and gods-know what. His pants are made crude from gecko skin, and he has a brown cape with atached wolf-fur on apropriate spots. On his feet, he has regular mocasins, like those the indians made. As said erlier he is a figure that gets noticed. He walks with a high head, and he is a quite tall man.

hokay..this is what I have so far, fell free to come with suggestions and/or objections :)

you have 4 more stat points kahgan

2 charisma 2 luck

Why would a shaman need finesse and gifted.

as a shaman I'd expect good natured and possibly chem resistant cause the stuff he works around constantly

thats exactly the point pyro, why would a shaman have those two traits? It makes this interesting, the backgroud tells us that he fights like nobody else, perhaps he fights with great finesse?

I dunno, but i like it, perhaps this guy was one of the elders that helped out my character.

One questions though, are we allowed to take perks?
