Reactions by any of the original FO/FO2 devs?

First time out of the vault
Have any of the original devs said anything publicly about the direction of FO3 since the original GI story broke?

I'd be very interested in hearing any feedback from the original dev teams.

No, they haven't. They aren't allowed to.

Except for, you know, the dozens upon dozens previews we have on the frontpage right now.

As Silencer mentioned above, and if you would have simply read the thread topic, I was referring to the FO/FO2 devs.

Will any of the old Black Isle/Interplay guys speak up as the franchise that they created gets gang raped by BethSoft?

I would imagine that with the consolidation of the gaming industry that maybe they wouldn't in fear of burning some bridges.

Sure would be interesting though to get there thoughts.

No. We've had some comments from Van Buren devs. Puuk doesn't like it much, J.E. Sawyer seems pretty happy, but none of the Fallout 1 or 2 devs have commented, except for Leonard's "the sale of the license of Bethesda felt like me ex-wife sold my baby".

Don't expect them to comment, they have nothing to gain from picking a fight with Bethesda.

Thanks for the info Brother None.

What is Puuk up to? If I remember correctly, he signed on with Silverstyle for a very short time intending to work on "The Fall" and then left suddenly to work for EA (????) in Los Angeles.

He did work on the Fall, but that was only on a part-time/freelance basis, he was never a contract worker.

Last I heard, he's at NCSoft now. But I'm not sure.

I don't think they have to say their opinions out loud. If they loved the original game as much as they all said they do, they must be even more furious with how Fallout 3 is turning out to be then most of us.

I know if I had worked on Fallout, I'd rather keep my mouth shut than get sued for libel by Zenimax.. because I'd have some choice words to say on the matter.

Well, I know how I feel about playing the games, and howe i felt while I played them. And I know how I feel about beth raping the game. So if we, the gamers, who spent days and days playing the game, feel violated by Beth, imagine how the devs of Fallout 1/2 feel, who spent years and years on it.

It makes me cry.

I hate Todd Howard with a fury that burns like a thousand suns.

I know he didn't work on Fallout himself, so he's not technically a "developer," but Brian Fargo - who was the head of Interplay when F1 and F2 was made - was interviewed in the Aug 2007 issue of Games for Windows, pages 46-48.

While answering one of GFW's questions, he had this to say about Bethesda working on F3 (p. 48):

They're clever guys, and I can't wait to see what they do. I know that they'll do well. In fact, I'd trust maybe three developers with Fallout - and Bethesda's definitely [one of them].

Brian's commented like that before. To be very harsh, it doesn't matter, he had pretty much 0 to do with Fallout beyond allowing Tim Cain to make it. About as relevant to hear the opinion of as the front desk secretary at the time

Opinions of the originals

I've been looking around, but couldn't find any (honest) opinions of the original creators of the Fallout series about FO3. So, does anyone know where I can read the thoughts of Tim Cain, Leonard Boyarsky or Chris Taylor (and/or the others, of course) on the third part? :)

There are no in-depth interviews about their opinions of Fallout 3. All you get is short blurbs amounting to "They made a fine game".

Or "I liked it"
