Realistic textures

First time out of the vault
For people with PC systems, you can re-use the high resolution texture packs from Fallout 3 in New Vegas. You can find the How To here.

If you haven't used high resolution texture packs before (in Fallout 3), they make things like the ground, walls, floor, wood and some other things look more realistic. They really change the feel of the game and I can't play it without them.

An example of the difference between a high resolution texture and a normal texture:

Check them out if you haven't already

very great start for a first post :D

Thank you. I had been practicing for this moment all day :D I hope my next post will be an hd re-texturing of one of the land mammals.

I haven't really looked into this but wouldn't having these high quality textures "clash" a lot with any new textures that they made for New Vegas? Or is that just a non-issue?

Thanks!

It's a non issue, I haven't seen any clashing ones yet but who knows if one doesn't pop up somewhere odd. If one does, then the benefit will far outweigh the hindrance so it'll still be a non issue.

A few thousand people use these hd textures and haven't seen this issue. NV uses a lot of the exact same textures as Fallout 3 pixel for pixel, it even uses some Megaton textures still labeled as Megaton.

There's noticeable impact on lower-to-mid systems, and even my high-end rig is starting to sweat.

I may have to roll back to the lite version.
