Reax Music Magazine and Fallout 3

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
Another “most anticipated video games of 2008” list includes Fallout 3, this time around from Reax Music Magazine:
Fallout, simply put, is one of the best CRPGs ever made. I remember my joy as a young teen as I ventured out into the wastes with little more than a few stimpacks and a shitty pistol to save Vault 13 from certain demise. This post-apocalyptic, darkly satirical masterpiece was my introduction to the genre, and holds a special place in my memory box labeled: Things You Did When You Should Have Been Studying. When I heard that Bethesda Software purchased the license to the long-defunct Fallout franchise, I nearly had a heart attack. After all, they built their empire on wizards and orcs in the popular fantasy series, The Elder Scrolls. I was marginally happy that the Fallout series wouldn’t end on such a sour note as the terrible Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel, released in 2004 to messy critical failure. However, I remain skeptical as to whether Bethesda can revive Fallout in all its previous glory, with the change in perspective from top-down isometric to first and third-person, and a switch in setting from West to East Coast. The optimistic side of me welcomes these changes because change is an inevitable part of life, but I’m wary. Will Bethesda “get it?” My Magic 8-Ball says, “Ask again later.”
Link: Most Anticipated Video Games of 2008 @ Reax Music Magazine

Wow, a sceptical article in a magazine...

I don't get what's the deal with that bullshit about change being an inevitable part of life though.

Because it is? Nothing lasts forever. Eventually "Fallout" will be a foot note in the history books.

Not-a-gaming magazine does better job than our beloved gaming magazines.
I bet most of the gaming journalists that did FO previews and FO3 devs don't get the magic 8-ball comment.

From now on, we'll listen to non-gaming magazines instead of the real gaming magazines! This man sees the light! 8-)

So...what can change the nature of the man? :D

You guys are writing here your philosophies etc, but this case is very, very simple;) (And subjective - for FO fan such change is bad, for some console player it'd be good.)

Isn't it the precise opposite?! Fallout was a change, and the Fallout fan liked it because it was a change. NOW the console players don't want another change like fallout and instead want something like everything else...

You are mistaken...

the perspective is irrelevant, change is always good from someones point of view, and equally always bad from another. it's yin and yang.

No matter what.

post-depression germany was united by a man who brought about change and economic stability to a war torn country and made it a super power practically overnight. he also killed a lot of people. (sorry for the godwin there, but really...)

The gameplay is not. The thing is, you are changing from point and click to click and shoot. Would love to have some first person point and clicking goodness...

Well, we've all seen what would've happen if Hitler died before 1939
(Red Alert!)

He did? And I only thought he only made people into working for free and stretched thin Germany's resources....

Obviously, people still believe Hitler actually *shaped* Germany into a super power....only thing he did is say "work for the Vaterland or you'll be called a traitor and shot" and tricked people that situation is getting better, like Stalin did. The economic strategy of nazi Germany and comunistic Russia *ruined* those countries, even though they could produce a lot of tanks and weapons.
