Remotely controlling my PC, and Streammygame

I just got Streammygame, which is a great service. It allows you to play games remotely from another computer, using your desktop as a host/server. So far it runs good, and allows me to play GTA IV and Medieval 2 on my EEE PC, without any lag or major issues.

One problem though, is that my desktop needs to be on for this to work. It kind of removes the point of the software, as I don't want to leave my desktop PC on while I'm traveling or away from home for a longer time, which is when I plan to use Streammygame.

Is there a way to turn my desktop on/off remotely, using my Eee PC for instance? How can I control if the computer's on or off?

Is Streammygame redundant? Are there other ways through Windows to play remotely, like the Remote Desktop connection?

I'm using Windows 7 Beta build 7000 on both PCs.

most motherboards have wake-on-lan capability. but that also means you have to be able to get inside your home network to use it.

other than that, there are external modules which can be bought that can be used to remotely boot your PC. these come in various shapes and sizes, but the most easily found are usually quite expensive (as they're meant for servers).
