Replaying old Command and Conquer Games...want Multiplayer

The Vault Dweller

always looking for water.
So I've spent the past two months playing all the old C&C games in the C&C The First Decade. I missed out on half of them and those I did play I only did the "good" campaign (GDI and Allies). I've seen played all the campaigns for all the games except Generals.

Thing is I love these Westwood's RTS's as much as Blizzard's RTS's singleplayer for both campaign and skirmish. However I have awesome memories of Blizzard RTS's played online both competitive and custom, but no memories for Westwood's RTS's. This is, because they lacked an easy system for finding and playing with others like Battlenet, but also that they discontinue service for the old games now that EA is in charge unlike Blizzard.

I realise I can still play them...I just need to know someone who has the games, wants to play, and is on at the same time. Sucks compared to just getting on Battlenet at anytime and playing against anyone in seconds.

So...do you have any old C&C games you want to play? Are you on during the hours of 9 PM to 12 AM Eastern Standard Time? I'll play any game though I'd prefer either Tiberian Sun or Red Alert 2. Also it will take me a few minutes to do all the information...I've never played by direct connection and I think you have to fill out alot of information about the connection your friend is using.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I dabble in both TibSun and RA2 from time to time. Tib Sun was my ultimate favourite of the series plotwise (I played all from C&C up to RA2), but RA2 is the shit for multiplayer.

I mostly play during holidays because the sum of games and my work laptop equals no productivity! I'll keep half an ear open.

Great Britain all the way! That sniper has such devastating possibilities. Especially if you're using yuris revenge too- Slave miners don;t respond well to sniper attacks. Also, snipers fit well into battle fortresses.

I don't know whether you just looked it up in a search engine or play them yourself, but you just saved me quite a bit of time looking stuff up online and I own you many thanks. I'm going to get along of playing time out of this game and I've already gotten plenty from it.

I'd play you, but I got sick of people complaining about me playing as the French...

THE GRAND CANNON IS NOT OVERPOWERED!

I've played as the French alot as the Allies. I like to climb the tech tree and get superweapons more than make more units and rush my opponent. This causes me to put a high price on base defense and the Grand Cannons long range, heavy damage, and area of effect are awesome. Of course it does need one or two patriot missile systems since it can't hit air, but that's not different from a prism tower then. I've even gone as far as to make another MCV to plant a base outside my opponent and make Grand Cannons to just bombard them away.

I've noticed that too. I automatically assumed you'd use the British whether they were good or not simply due to your nationality, but lucky you the British own with that Sniper. After playing countless games against Hard computers on skirmish both one on one, team and free for all I've had countless times where one Sniper has killed a ten of my infantry and often escape unscathed. The computer is particularly annoying by putting the sniper in an IFV. Though the range and power of his attack are the same in an IFV he can now move five times as fast. Usually the IFV moves near the outskirsts of my base and starts picking off guys. Once I move them into the center of my base and move my vehicles out to engage the IFV it just runs away and usually escapes due to it being one of the fastest vehicles in the game.

When I'm Soviet I just compensate by only making vehicles which is actually prefereable even if I'm not fighting snipers due to the decreased cost to build vehicles I get from the industrial plant. Also I use the infantry I need at the beginning for defense and put them in battle bunkers...safely away from any sniper.

Of course when I'm playing Allied I can't just mass vehicles since they cost too much. Also I can't hide infantry inside of any buildable structure so I've found snipers are much more dangerous when you're Allied.

Also I saw a sniper single handedly prevent two Yuri ore miners from making any money just as you say Dragonetti.

When I get home I'll get on this server listed here and if you guys see me just remember I'll try to be "The Vault Dweller" if I can and online around 9 PM to 11 PM Eastern Time. I suspect I'll be playing RA2 online for quite a while probably a whole month.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

Hey VD, if you want I can take some dust off my First Decade DVD and roll some skirmishes :) .

Precisely, but apparently people didn't grasp those facts and many multiplayer matches had precise instructions to not allow the French...

So I'd just go as Cuba and annoy the hell out of them with waves of Terrorists.

Sure. I'll be one every night for the next few weeks from 9 PM to 11 PM Eastern Time.

My name there is TVD.

Funny you say that. I've played it a few days and indeed French were my favorite faction in skirmish since the Grand Cannon makes turtling to play defense and climb the tech tree easy. However not only do most people throw you out of a game if you're France, but they usually have superweapons turned off...just the fact I can't make Grand Cannons makes turtling harder, but without superweapons at the top of the tech tree turtling is worthless.

It's still fun enough to hold my attention at least a few weeks.
