Retro or Modern Fallout?

The original Fallout games had a more mature, "Hey look, I know you probably think this is terrible, but it's possible" feel. Like the whole "Getting a lady pregnant and then leaving her" thing.

Plus, you could really mess a kid's nuts up.

Oh yea, and the whole enviroment/roleplay freedom. Sure, Fallout 3 let you do what you want, but I feel the originals let you do it more so.

Plus, there were more hilarious encounters in the retro ones. LIKE:

the TARDIS

a Dinosaur footprint

etc.

It's like comparing apples to oranges; they're both fruit, but two totally different tastes.
Both the retro and modern Fallouts have a similar feel, but just barely. In New Vegas and 3, you feel like humanity has indeed crumbled, but still survives. It feels like you'll never be alone, which does fit New Vegas, but it's vastly different from the isolated and somewhat depressing vibe of the retro games.
I like the the ones I've played, but Bethesda has no place with Fallout. 3 is a good game with one or two playthroughs, provided it's your first Fallout, but it feels like a perverse juxtaposition of two things that just don't meld well. When Obsidian took the Fallout 3 engine and tweaked it by adding retro elements, it gained loads more character and it became a much better game. If Bethesda is still going to hold the rights, they better not continue to ruin it like they did Elder Scrolls, by turning it into a generic run of the mill game.

I get what you are saying but don't agree that it is the right answer.
3 is dark, not as dark as 1.
Humanity has been nearly wiped out, those that survived are obviously superior genetically, virtually all entertainment has been erased, what is left? Hunting, Killing and screwing and scavenging. With that said you want towns with 5 people? No way, not gonna happen, if people survive they will fuck like rabbits, the offspring limited only by food supply and shelter., which lends itself to nomadic tribes (lots of raiders) and many small settlements, with few larger ones.

I realize this site will always be bigoted against Bethesda made Fallouts, but a lot of the arguments seem quite shaded by rose colored glasses.

After 200 years there is no sense in so dark Capital Wasteland... and that is problem. If Bethesda have placed game 70 years after the war, that would be nice. etc

Modern:
New Styles please, New Styles please,

Due Dizziness, I can't play any game,
that has a camera above my head.

Fallout 3 and New-Vegas are: Perfect !!!

Pls don't change it

Oppa retro style... Fallout 3 had stiff animations, player-controlled combat, and the stupid minigames. Even its exploration could be replaced with decent text descriptions - like the junk cars of Fallout.

I like more the old style but that doesn't mean I hate the new style I guess the old style was more appealing to me

Because most of the old Fallout animations where graciously awesome right?

I love both and i think i've spent the most time playing Fallout 2 and i would probably play a lot more if they made a new version. Maybe Warhammer 40k DOW 2 graphics? Not to fancy but quite awesome anyways! Especially since i don't like playing a game in fullscreen and only have it covering like 40% of my screen :|
