I just got this idea for an option to mark locations on your pipboy. In the same fashion your pipboy does with special encounters.
(I told Marcus and skynet to wait for me in a random encounter, cuz I wanted to make an nice screenshot, then I walked out of the map and I hadn't saved for hours. Very frustrating indeed, but I accepted the loss, until I realize Skynet had the FOB!!)
It would also be pretty handy for people who want to have a cave or farm as a base, instead of the Raiders Base or the Chop Shop, wich would be far better.
Further more a memo section could be included as well as a travel log (map with dates or a diary)
and a section for gathered information (clues, was also in the Fallout 1 demo I have) next to the quest lists.
A calculator. Don't start laughing right away, it could calculate estimated traveltimes between city's.
A encyclopedia containing basic survival information, information gathered on critters, towns and technology and in some cases even some useful advice.
Perhaps, (read: 'perhaps') even an option to communicate with the vault(s) or more advanced city's like Vault City or perhaps even NCR.
Or how about the option to modify it later on in the game. Like adjusting it to detect traps, radiation OR something else (just one modification)
It isn't quite as unrealistic as it may seem, in Fo2 as well the Sheriff of VC as the Vault 8 computer tell you that your version of the pipboy is inferior.
At least, will Black Isle please include the first suggestion. I apologize for not following their advice to save often, but I thought that would make the game riscier (and I was right too)
Anyone who WANTS to lose NPC's say NEE.
Oh, I'll start working on a screenshot too show you guys what I meant, and after that I'll try to figure out how to post it. CUl8r
