RPG Roundtable 5 part 2

KOTOR was graphicaly beautifull ( I'm not talking about 3rd person perspective and following camera but about overall graphics ) and ... that's it, I can say only this as it's merits. The rest was step backwords. It's sad they wasted such good graphics. :P
While MW wasnt much better it has some other than graphics things I liked, that were new ( at least to me ) like increasing skills level by actualy using them.... and some more. But except these few things I liked it was step backwords, just like in KOTOR.

what if it is a turning point?
kotor isn't such a bad game, yeah it is basically a console game-sure, but it was well made, maybe for hardcore rpg'ers like ourselves it doesn't add much, if at all.

i don't know if deus ex 2 is on console as well, if it is, then i think its another example of mimicking pc rpg elements for the benefit of consoles.

anyway its just progress(and for console even, who cares), why the condemnant tone?

Both those games have the advantage of perspective that's console friendly, i.e. first or 3rd person. I want Fallout to stay with the viewpoint it was made with.
Good point there.

I even tried being a bad guy after beating it, but I couldn't take the NPC's reactions. I could wipe out whole towns (children and all) in Fallout and feel just fine, but cheating some widow out of some money (in KOTOR) made me feel like a complete bastard.
Funny, I Found it too easy to be evil in kotor, it was just so clear what you had to do, you were rewarded for being evil, and there were no real bad consequences for you (like those headhunters from FO2).

I just liked it cause in my mind it was the ONLY Star Wars game worth playing that wasn't a pure shoot-em-up(oh and HK-47 was highly entertaining). Probably had something to do with playing it after SWG, I loathe the mockery that is Galaxies.
I didn't see what people thought was so great in HK-47, pretty decent character, but in no way deserving of so much praise (It could only be a case of high standards from someone who thinks Planescape is holy, but even the baldur's gate series had much better characters than him (Tough he was pretty great if compared to the lead character in any recent final fantasy))

That's a case of a pc game mimicking console elements for the detriment of PCs.

HK-47 was just funny. It wasn't any good character. But since Macaco mentioned planescape torment, it had something in common with torment's characters, it was possible to improve it's stats during the game.
But it still was most interesting chasracters from all the team. While it was nothing special it just made better impresion with all these uninteresting characters as a background.
