The problem is it started out serious and became "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub" within the main series. It makes the earlier, more grounded installments look like they don't belong. Like, why is The Boss getting blown up on a boat considered a serious event in SR1 when three games from now they survive an ICBM exploding 30 feet away from them hundreds of feet in the air? The earlier installments don't look serious from that angle.Jesus guys, I liked Saints Row 2 as well but you can actually like silly things AS WELL AS serious things.
Preferably, something like SRIV should've been a spin-off title. Metal Gear Revengance was a pretty wacky game yet most MG fans love it partially because it's a spin-off. If MGR was explicitly MGSV then folks probably would've thrown a fit because it's too different from the main story.
